Just received my bib for my third Houston marathon. I'm not ready, but I'll be there anyway. Time to get in a few more runs so I don't die on the 19th. :D

I won't miss the 50K in OK (Pumpkin Holler) that I miss last year. Also looking for a full 26.2 early in the fall, somewhere in the west coast. I know I'll be doing the Bolder-Boulder 10K. Don't know about anythng else. I'd like to do the OKC Memorial Half again, to blow that sucker out of the water!
Incredibly enough, my 5K PR of 23.19 was done in Tulsa, in 93 degrees with 90% humidity. It rain during the first mile, and then it became a steam bath!

None yet, but its about to get rolling.
Going to do a half in Augusta end of February. I want to do a full this spring but I'm having trouble finding one close where I'm free. Got a really busy spring. If I can't find one I'll do the Georgia peach jam half in April
I'm going to do the rock and roll 26.2 in savannah in November but I don't want it to be my first full.

This is my laziest racing season in about 10 years. I usually do 2-3 halfs, a few 10ks, and a 15k, but this season I have one 10 miler planned and 1 10k planned. That's it. I've been in a slump this year.

14 days into the year, and you are already declaring it a "slump year"?

Have been running "gassers" and "balls out" running for two weeks. It sure is burning fat FAST! :)

Haha no no, I'm psychologically on a school year cycle, so my racing season starts/ends in the summer. So i'm 6 months into my season.

Well.....I DID IT! Ran my very first Marathon (AZ Rock and Roll) and didn't die. LOL

Slept through my alarm and woke up 40 min before start time. Downed a cup of coffee, one PB banana toast and got there as the last coral was leaving. What a way to start!

I had battled with a lot of blood sugar issues in training and eating that close to start actually helped as I never got hungry or light headed and kept the GU's flowing every 45-60min and felt great. I’ve read that the first half is not 13.1 but at 20 miles and that couldn’t have been truer. Those last 6.2 miles were brutal. Strangely enough, it’s actually comforting to suffer alongside everyone else. It was interesting to see so many people struggling early on (some even at 10 miles). One guy in his 60's or 70's was running sideways at 17 miles as if he “hit the wall” already.

Discovered my Nike+ running watch was off by a few miles so my longest 21 in training was prob closer to 18 before going into the race. Considering I didn’t do everything “right” in training and trained through a right paraneal injury, I may be crazy enough to consider running another one. LOL

    Such a profound experience!

+1 big congrats! besides the obvious fitness level required, many will never know how much mental stamina is required to finish a long race- makes it that much more satisfying :)

    Thanks fellas!

I believe that's caused by tight IT band?.......foam roll the crap out of it. Just about every tightness issue I've had, rolling has helped with. At the expo I tried this thing called the stick and it was way easier than a traditional foam roller. Got deep with little effort too.

Ive always heard ice for the first 48 hours and after that apply heat to keep the area loose and flexible.

So, for the past two weeks, 40-60% of my running has been on a treadmill. I got to admit, that yes it is boring. But I'm able to maintain my form better, and I have to admit, the consistency of the "machine" is helping with conditioning. Who knew?

    Still, boring as hell!
