ran 19 miles on Saturday to Stuart Peak (Rattlesnake Wilderness), snow got very deep near the top which it made it very tough going; the run back down was epic! :D

Subbed because I'm getting into running.
My shoes are just about worn out so I'm gonna go to the big town next week and visit a running store to get fancy shoes.

I started the C25K program with my mom this morning, the best part about it is the quick recovery time.

dont run so hard. every so often while im running, i let my arms hang, take long deep breaths and focus on actually relaxing (while still moving) i have to remind myself to do this... before i started that i actually finished a marathon more sore in my shoulders and neck than in my legs.

Excellent! One of the most common things I see a lot of runners neglect is, good shoes fit for the individual. Sure makes a huge difference!

if there is ONE piece of advice i could give to any new runner.. its choose good shoes.

find a running store, run on the treadmill... and watch "all" your pain disappear as they suggest shoes to fit how you run.

Speaking of running shoes, what are people wearing?

For anything not trail, or snow, I wear Netwon Motion III. For trails, and running in the snow, I wear Saucony Guide 7.

i just took a gamble on some trail shoes, mizuno wave ascend 8 (seriously, enough words to name a shoe or what!) and the first 5 miles today in gravel and wheel ruts was successful enough. ill see how i feel after 13 after i get off work.

my road shoe has been the saucony stabil C2 for almost 4 years now.. i have a whole pile in my closet just waiting to be donated. i write the # on the inside of the heel. im in need of a new pair, my pinky toes are starting to get sore after running. the support is gone!

i live on a mountain, and this will be my first winter at home.. im kind of curious how the trail shoes will do on ice and snow... but ive got some yaktrax in my Amazon cart just waiting for the need to arise.

how would i know if i need or could benefit from insoles though?

BTW... when i say i took a gamble on the mizunos..

i dont have the availability of a running store where i am to go in and try on shoes. runners world has a GREAT shoe comparison tool

    http://www.runnersworld.com/shoe/mizuno-wave-ascend-8-mens

thats a link from their winter 2014 trail shoe reviews, specifically the shoe i just got. if you scroll down there is a little comparison tool that says "show me how it fits!"

you put in the shoe you currently have and what size and it suggests sizing and compares fit between the two shoes. it was actually very useful, highly suggested for anyone who cant just run out to the store and try on shoes.

Ive had four or five pairs of Mizuno WaveRiders. Just about to get the new model. Trail, I love my La Sportiva Bushidos, a little heavy but I run on some really and I mean really rocky stuff.

BTW I almost bought the Mizuno trail shoes, still might.

ill be running a few more miles today, but my first experience with them was positive. i had a lot of feel from them, but they were still firm and the heavy gravel i run on didnt hurt. they felt pretty natural on my feet.. and taking them off was like pulling my foot out of thick mud, just hugged my foot!

ive been running on the stabil so long, im afraid to try new shoes, but they are awful on anything but pavement. now that ive had a good experience with the mizuno ascend.. i might branch out on my road shoes too!
