Only an extra $2000 to be able to stream to the gram while off-roading.

I just got my Starlink RV kit a couple days ago and was kinda pissed to see they now have an in-motion version coming out. But after seeing the $2500 price tag, I'm not pissed anymore about getting the regular RV version.

The regular RV version costs close enough to what a WeBoost set up costs (not including the monthly fee). But hopefully, I can log in to work remotely on long weekends with the Starlink.

    Just got this email:

To ensure our customer base is not negatively impacted by a small number of users consuming unusually high amounts of data, the Starlink team is implementing a Fair Usepolicy in the US and Canada in December 2022.

Based on your data usage over the last six months, this policy will haveno impact on your serviceif your usage patterns stay the same.
Under the Fair Use policy, all Residential customers will receive unlimited data, and will start each month with Priority Access, which means their data usage will be prioritized during times of network congestion.
Customers who exceed 1 TB of data use on a monthly basis (currently < 10% of users) will automatically be switched to Basic Access for the remainder of the billing cycle, which means their data usage will be deprioritized during times of network congestion, resulting in slower speeds.

Data used between 11pm - 7am will not count towards your Priority Access.

Starting today, you can now monitor your data usage on your account page. Read more in Starlink’sFair Use policyand in theTerms of Service.

Thank you for being an early customer and for your continued support of Starlink!

    Starlink Team

NOTE: The Terms of Service also include updates on using the HP Flat Starlink designed for in-motion use. By continuing your use of Starlink, you agree to be subject to the Fair Use policy and the updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these changes, you can cancel your Starlink Services at any time on your account page.

My billing cycle just ended and I was at 250GB usage for the month so I don’t think I’m going to have a problem with the new limit.

I’d imagine from nothing, to long range HF radio, to geosat download speeds to starlink is a pretty good step up. Even if the connection drops out when it’s up it’s probably far faster than what they had before. I’m going to guess there isn’t a lot of competition for Starlink bandwidth.

For us 1st Gen Dishy folks:

    LIMITED-TIME OFFER

You are eligible to upgrade to the High Performance Starlink Kit for a $600 discount at $1,900, instead of the typical price of $2,500. This offer is only available through December 31st, 2022.

    WHY HIGH PERFORMANCE?
The High Performance improves service in colder winter weather conditions. To see this in action, check out this High Performance in Antarctica. Additional performance beyond your Standard Kit includes:
    • Improved weather resistance: Better at resisting water, ice, and extremely cold temperatures
    • Better performance in the snow: Can melt almost twice as much snow per hour
    • Better visibility of satellites: Can see 35% more sky, which helps with polar areas, atypical installations, and locations with unavoidable obstructions

    HOW IT WORKS
By accepting the offer, Starlink will place an order for the High Performance on your account using your existing payment method on file. Your Standard Starlink will continue to work until your High Performance is delivered and online, or after 2 months, whichever comes sooner. You will not be required to trade-in your Standard Starlink to receive this offer.

I got that email as well. I don’t think I can justify $1900 for a dish capable of performing in Antarctica when the original dishy is doing just fine.

It’s the same monthly fee, just a better dish. I sent a reply to support saying I don’t need that but would potentially upgrade to the standard rectangle dish if given a discounted price.

I’ve got the 2nd gen, rectangular dish and got the upgrade offer too.

    Not worth it IMHO.
