There’s only so much they can charge.

Competition, both land and space based, is increasing. We’ll see how it goes.

I would pay more. I’ll be able to WFH two days a week now and shave off about 350 miles for my commute, which is around $65 in gas per week.

I started off paying $99 a month, that got bumped to $110, now it’s gonna be $90.

If Starlink goes public, maybe we’ll have access to how they determine pricing and other fees.

I would have gladly given up $10 of my decrease to go to those getting an increase :notsure:

I think it would be cool if they offered a single reduced speed package in addition to the current 'full speed' one, at a reduced price or course.

Realistically very few people need the speeds Starlink is capable of. I think its more of a hype thing to show what they are capable of. Hell, before I dumped Xfinity I was lucky to get 20 mbps down / about 2 up and they continued to increase the price. I finally told them off when I got the notice increasing to $89.99 / mo. and referenced my actual speeds, to which they had no response.

You'd think some sort of reduced speed plan would help Starlink with data usage and consumers with price.

Somehow, the logic of this doesn't make sense to me. In areas with limited capacity (which I am,) wouldn't there be more likelihood of slower speeds, due to congestion of users on the system? Yet, I'll be charged MORE for slower speeds, whereas users in areas with excess capacity, where speeds may be greater due to less congestion, will be paying LESS. What am I missing here? Can someone educate me?

Id think its an attempt to keep folks who dont 'need' Starlink from buying in those areas. Like I said most people dont need Starlink speeds, but they may be enticed by all the publicity surrounding this into upgrading from something like shitty cable where maybe they are only getting 10-20 down.

    Thats my take at least.

Apparently they removed portability in the US market, too, eliminating the option of anyone using their residential dish other than one location. Current users are grandfathered in but the option is gone for everyone else. Looks like it won’t work if you don’t have it, no best effort mode. You can switch to RV service, but they lock you to it. Weird.

Doesn’t make sense to me either.

I got the same message about ‘if you want to cancel service…’. Yeah, you drop my bill by $20 a month so I’m gonna cancel it now o_O

I checked my account and port options are indeed gone.

I hadn’t turned on port yet, so yikes. I’ll set it up and see if it defaults to $120. If it gives me a fit, I’ll switch to RV more in my account and just wait until my other order opens up I suppose. We have zero options, and buying an RV dish isn’t an option when residential can do the same thing we want, but get prioritized data when it opens.

Good to know I can keep my portability active instead of losing it.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
From What I have seen I doubt I will ever see service here in the Woods.

No cable No DSL to use Satellite I would need to pay my neighbor $$$$ to cut down trees on his land so it might work.

Get on their subreddit. It’s got more shit posters than the third gen forum, but tons of info as well.

I put my request in for starlink over a year ago, but didn't follow through with it when the email came. My local isp had a deal on fiber for $89.99 a month for two years. I'm locked in on that deal for another year, but starlink is still of interest to me. :typing:
