The rear suspension sounds easy enough then. I may go with a cheap spacer lift to fit the 33's then when I really get ready do a good suspension lift I will spend the extra dough and do it right.

i would highly suggest to take your time and do things right. you will wanna punch babies with that spacer lift after a while.
from toytech the spacer lift is 299 but the new spring for shocks are only 100 bucks more

I didn't realize the spacers were that pricey. Yeah I will probably just hold off on the tires as the ones that came on it (bridgestone duelers) are new. It will take some time to convince the wife out of some mod money. It was ahrd enough convincing her to get the FJ. But when I do I will just do the suspension lift. I did the billies on the Tacoma without UCA's and I wasn't satisfied. I am going to do it all right at one time this go around.

i'm installing the ProComp 3" lift on my cousin's FJ this weekend. what did you hate about it? i know its an entry level lift but was the ride shit? he's a 2wd so i'm sure performance is not a top priority.

It will be a stiff ride. He might get away with not breaking anything if he doesn't wheel too hard. It just puts alot of stress on the already wimpy factory shocks and increases the possibility of failure.
