I talked to a guy recently who had flipped his carrier and put a 1.25" Spidertrax spacer on it and he clears fine. Just gonna be something to fool around with I guess lol

You only need to flip or add a spacer if you go to a 315 I believe.

He said even with it flipped, his 285 Cooper ST rested on his rear windshield wiper. So he added the spacer and bingo, problem solved. I think it also depends on the tires too.

once you buy an FJ you start seeing them everywhere...or so it seems. I never noticed them until I got one myself. In my hood I have:
    1) Black one, all TRD'd
    2) Stock Black one, always dirty, rear tire removed
    3) Tan TTSE
    4) another white TTSE, well used

I started noticing them everywhere before I even got mine.. which led to me selling my Taco and getting the FJ!

Please excuse the noob question but is it possible to change just the outer tie rod end? I mean I don't have to pull the inner out just to replace the outer do I?

This is a weird place to put this question. Just break the jam nut and the outer will screw out (with the ball joint disconnected of course)

I've seen this done somewhat poorly on a couple of FJ's. Don't do it unless you think they will do a quality job on it. It looked terrible on the ones I saw, it looked like someone just took a bunch of spray paint and went at it.

Didn't see a need to start a new thread about it. And how does one disconnect said ball joint?

Remove cotter pin, loosen nut, remove tapered threaded shaft via ball joint puller or hammer. There are a few posts about it on the blue room and I'm sure there are some on here.

Yeah I searched but couldn't find anything. All I found via Google were inner replacements. Thanks for the tips.

I never noticed how many FJ's there are in SF / California until I bought one myself.
