i walked in and told him exactly what i wanted so there trying to find me what i want. just hopping they get me it, if not they said they would order the rims and just trade them out. now my biggest question is... gonna order the saw kit from metal tech, any good? also what am i gonna have to trim to fit 35s?

body/cab mounts and bush wackers or remove the fender flares. I am running 285's with zero rubbing AT ALL. i have plenty of clearance after removing my fender flares which ,IMO, are kinda ugly and just add to the "tupperware-ish" trim of the fj. Most people who walk by my fj say the same thing.. "time for 35's?" but i love the clearance and look. I am at just under 3" lift up front and 2" rear. Maybe Seth can chime in on fitting 35's. I do know he has his co's cranked about 3.25" and a 1" body lift + 4.56 gears. looks and i am sure performs awesome, just more $$ than i wanna throw at my fj right now

bushwackers actually give you clearance? im gonna run the sway a way full kit, so i could be able to fit 35 dont you think? how much do the fender flares run?

for some reason I "thought" buchwackers gave a little more clearance. I dont have them, but Seth can confirm.
The full SAW kit is pretty nice. I would imagine that 35's would fit, and thought so after reading on a few member's rigs on FJC forums...but seth has first hand experience with this and stated before that there is major trimming + body lift to properly fit 35's on a non DB lift. EG: member's on here who claimed to run 285's w/no lift and had "zero rub"
depends on what you do with it.
Seth should be on in 3....2.....1....
    :p

just like tacomas, some people luck out and can fit 35 with there 3 inch lift with minimal cutting when i was rubbing 33 with a six inch lift.

Fitting 35"s on a 3" lift with no rubbing is no joke. You will need a very aggressive body mount chop, an aftermarket front bumper, UCAs, possibly need to pound the pinch weld flat. I have done all this and still have some rub under extreme conditions. I had to lower my rear bump stops 1 1/4"s and add a 1" body lift to allow the rear to stuff more and still have rubbing back there under extreme conditions, but that may be helped by not running fender flares. Mind you this is all with 1 1/4" spidertrax on 4.5" BS. without the spidertrax you will rub stock UCAs and with 4.5" BS and no spidertrax the wheels look way too stuffed. Without the spidertrax I would have no rubbing without pounding the pinchweld flat, but like i Said before the wheels look way too tucked.

In short running 35"s on a 3" is no joke and get ready to battle lots of rubbing issues no matter what you do.

    but Seth?!
There are tons of guys running around with CO's set @ 3" lift and clear 35's just fine?!?! on the freeway....:p
I am starting to think guys on the FJC forums are either being dishonest about rubbing issues...or dont wheel their fj's (those that have a simple 3" lift, and claim zero rubbing)

Maybe with no wheel spacers you can get away with less trimming, but I doubt any one is just slapping them on and not having issues. Most people need a body mount chop to clear 285s with no rubbing at all.

    I considered 34s but couldn't find MTs in a 34" for a 16" rim.

I'm running 33" X 12.50 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ without any rubbing on a 3 inch lift. My wheels are 4.5" back spacing and I have a simple rev tek lift. The wider tires look sick. I wouldn't change a thing.

4.5" But 12.5" wide tire is not recommended on a 7.5" rim.
