I hope you have a better experience with your ARB than I had. Used it maybe 15 times, zipper split and their "warranty" coverage was to mail me a new outer bag and basically say good luck on the install. No instructions, no hardware, nothing.

Turns out the thing is riveted on, so you have to drill the rivets then reinstall or bolt it together (they provided no specs for what size hardware, etc).

Pretty lame IMO, considering I've heard decent things about their coverage otherwise. It would be like taking your truck in for warranty work and the dealer hands you 6 spark plugs and says good luck.

Hey folks, long time reader; first time poster.

My SP should be ready in a month ish, and I'm aiming to do most my ordering (and maybe some building) ahead of pickup. I've got a couple questions I'm hoping this group can help out with.

    1. My truck (2013 DCSB) is stock. Sounds like I should do something to account for the extra weight of the SP, and my options are airbags, sumo springs, or AAL, yea? Obviously the SP will stay on the truck all the time. Otherwise, the bed will have an extra ~50-100lbs constant, and maybe another ~300lbs on trips. I'm leaning towards Ride Rites, but managing the air pressure seems like it could be annoying. I do have an air compressor at home, so I should probs just suck it up and not be lazy. What do y'all think is best for my use case?

    2. I'm planning to build out some benches / a lower sleeping platform. Have any of you used 80/20 Quick Frame? The price and weight is pretty appealing compared to 1010, but I'm wondering if it's going to be too flexible under weight (say of an adult sitting or stepping on a boxed frame).

    Thanks!

Yeah would be a bummer having to deal with that. Seemed like all the awnings had some bad reviews, I ended up going with what was in stock and decent price.

You'll want to add something to deal with the weight. My case is specific (can't add any lift and will be carrying moto on hitch rack). But I can say in stock form the truck handles the camper plus full camping gear load pretty well most of the time. The two instances it doesn't are going over speed bumps, and g-outs on the freeway. I've got an appt at Deaver next week to get something custom installed.

Five pages back or so I posted the design for my benches/sleeping platform. I ordered from T-nutz, which is similar or same as 8020 and 1010. I don't think it will be too flexible as long as you incorporate a few supports. I have three lengths going the full six foot length of the bed, but they will have two vertical sections supporting in the middle. You could always use a 1 x 2" extrusion for the long cross-member and/or vertical supports if you're concerned about it flexing, but everyone I saw reviews from said the regular 1" (1010) is fine.

FWIW, I ordered from T-nutz as their website system seemed easiest to navigate and they are supposedly cheaper. I ordered on 3/26 with estimated delivery date 4/2 but still haven't heard from them. Website says they're inundated with orders.

Bed weight right now is just RTT and bed racks, probably around 200#. I take off my spare and rigd spare carrier to fit in the garage, so Hopefully with just SP, it’ll will drop my springs down

    HD ome leaf pack.

The camper height isn't different between generations. It's the same physical camper. I can measure for you tonight but the only thing that impacts overall height between gens is the bed depth. So if you are measuring from your bedrail that would give the right dimension to use.

Maybe take that HD leaf out and just run the medium pack?

Lol. That's why I've been trying to plan out everything ahead of time as well. My truck barely fits in the garage as of now with everything (I did plan all that out too, overall height, etc). I 3D modeled my entire bed, rack, tent, gear.. to make sure everything would fit on the truck.. and the truck in the garage.

Now I'm doing the same thing in preparation for the SP. Modeled up the house and backyard. It's all to scale. We're going to put in an RV gate in the back yard.. and build a steel cover/carport. Will be able to use to for storage but also a shaded area for entertaining.

Helllll no. Lol it's roughly 9x20 with a 9ft ceiling. Concrete footers, then anchor and bolt up the steel uprights. Then finish. Leaving all the welding to my buddy who does it professionally. We can handle everything else though I think.

Here is the back deal for the door. Updated version. The corners have an opening and Spencer said they are working on something to address that.

they also mentioned when things calm down they will have a gear storage for the tent among other things

The tail gate looks pretty good though. i got that corner even worse + tail gate. Maybe I’ll get a spray foam can, spray and then hope the door opens lol.
