Mine is a long beg. I actually pulled the Decked system out in preparation for the Camper. Won’t need the space saving and cutting the extra weight is a plus. Check out roaminglost in IG. He’s in a Ram 1500 but it can give you an idea. He’s got a decked and a fridge and a legit solar set up all packed in there.

Thanks, I guess with a decked system the base weight would be 500lb

Camper and decked together, yea. If you haven’t already you’re going to want heavier duty leaf springs. I have +600lbs constant load springs, but stopping faster is cool too.

Only roof issue I ever saw with GFC was my buddy’s that delaminated. 6” diameter bubble right in the middle, maybe a year after he got it. They ended up replacing it but he had to negotiate a spot on their trailer after a different local install. They expected him (and me for my issues) to drive 15 hours to MT to have warranty work done.

Yeah after I sold my GFC I kept checking the forum just to see the hinge transition and maybe glean some future ideas. Once SP came out the shit went negative super fast. Bunch of butthurt babies on there now, the amount of bashing right out the gate was stupid. I got tired of the same new owner questions and posts about “look how I tied this string here to hold the doors closed” and the like. I wish I could have kept following but the content just wasn’t there.

That said, I am very excited for ANY company making a product better than the competitor, it’s how we elevate the business world. I went through revelations when I first picked up a Flippac, sold it and moved on to a GFC, and now hopeful for the SuperPacific. Just the photos I saw and conversations with Spencer were enough to rope me in again. If I hate it (or my wife hates it) I’ll find someone looking for one and sell it. No big deal!

I hate to say it, but worst case I buy a new roof panel from SP in a few years if it wears out.
It is what it is when buying a product in development.

Lol kinda made me chuckle "clone" "IP theft" lol.
I dont like being a "hater", but sorry, the super pacific is much more impressive in design than the GFC.
I also hate pulling this card, but I'm an ME in Product Design, and there is much more attention to detail/engineering in the SP over the GFC.
The GFC to me, is more of a fabricator decided to make a tent.

Rather not pollute this thread so that's all I'll say. People get way too defensive over such a simplistic design like a tubular wedge tent lol...

With the DCSB, has anyone asked if there is clearance for a rack underneath for a light bar, or is this rackable on the t-slots on the camper? Trying to visualize how this is going to look. Most pics are with the wedge open on the tacos

we may have an inch or so. I have seen them mounted either on a shortened Prinsu style rack or on the front. their are t slots all around the tent for mounting stuff.

whats does GFC have up their sleeve? I know there is a bunch of changes coming was curious what. The market is always dependent on another design. This one for one has or is tradesman written all over it. G

I think I may be putting a wrap down on the roof this time. I didn’t care much for the light filtering through the translucent roof panel on the GFC. Should add some UV protection I think.
I posted earlier in the thread.

Good idea. I’ll do the same. I don’t want my roof being translucent and it’ll help with sun wear in Cali.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and improvement. I love the look of the GFC, they are doing something right. But they have had a number of hurdles and I personally don’t feel like they have addressed them all properly. Like the hinge, If you know a part is bad, why keep using it? Just creates the problem they have now of having to travel to fix them all.
Honestly Super Pacific could have all the same and potentially other issues. I know the risk I’m taking.
