Just finished up our video on the interior walk around. It's not nearly as good as Roaming Lost, but it works for us.

was looking at this as well after last weekends trip wife wants lights lol.

did you do your own wiring or did you buy any of the 5pin wire kits help wire it up. assume some soldering is required with these.

I did end up buying the kit and didn’t use anything but the wire. I just soldered it all myself.

I've made it through at least half this thread and haven't seen anyone installing a rear awning. Is there some issue with installing a rear awning on the X1? I would really like to have a little more coverage than the rear hatch if I'm cooking on the tailgate.

I had one on my old camping setup, but decided not to do it again since I have the inside to retreat too if it's super shitty out.

From what I mocked up, it might be hard to get to the latches with how an awning mounts on the lower extrusion. I don't think impossible per se, but def in the way.

Once I get mine I plan on installing an awning on the rear. I have the side awning already and ordered the brackets.

I'm planning on having a rear awning that fits the width and also has a "rooms" or at least bug netting option. So far the awnings I've found are just over the width. I'll keep you posted and if any one has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I did purchase a set of two brackets from SP and they're designed to lift the awning up a bit to clear the rear door. Have to do a real world test to see if it works, if it interferes with the rear door, etc.

Forgot to say, I added another 15 nights to my camper a couple weeks ago and no issues for me yet.
I'm probably 20 nights in and will add 2 more next week. I got some dust intrusion, but my first gen tailgate is like a pasta strainer, so can't really judge and I dont use the lower space as a living area.
I havent modified it except for adding a solar panel. I've finally figured how to close it quickly but have to be careful that the material doesnt somehow get pinched near the strut. I have a little damage on the tent fabric there.

Also, the whole black color temperature thing I personally dont understand. I was camping in 95F days and once you open the sheet metal thin doors at night, you can quickly lose all acumulated heat from the day. I would buy a fan though just to circulate air when camping in heat - not camper related just comfort.

Peter up at SP showed me what he thought was the best way to close the tent, and it works pretty well. He basically swept his hands in along the upper part of both sides, making a sideways V along the sides, doing this constantly one side then the other as he lowered it. Then when it was about a foot open he tucked the back portion in. It’s hard to describe but as long as I keep sweeping my hands in on both sides as I lower it the sides fold in two and don’t bunch up. I’ve also noticed that the more I deflate the mattress the more room I have for the tent to fold and the less it wants to balloon out the sides. Hope that makes sense.

Yup, I deflate the mattress a lot, and it makes it soooo easy.
I like to keep the two doors halfway open, so when I ninja the doors, the material where the door is half open goes inside and it doesnt hang outside. Much easier.

You mean unzip the top of the side doors and screens so they hang down inside the tent? Or the bottom half? Or..?

Recently took the X1 on its maiden voyage along with @frenchee and a few others down to Baja and let's say it could have gone better. It was awesome views 10 days in Baja but I had a laundry list of things around the truck. I have been working with Superpacific on them so not really worried but also would rather not have to deal with issues when I am out.

Don't get me wrong I am super stoked on the X1 but the first trip out would not smooth sailing by any means. Looks like I have owned it for years now. ha, It was even more fun since I was with my 3 years old so not ideal to find out about some things late at night when you want to sleep.

    1. Dust, even with my already rear dust seals on the tailgate and other stuff I had a ton of dust inside my camper. Also when I did a pressure wash when I got back some water made it in as well.
    2. The first few nights we had some high winds and could have been that but one of my tent struts failed the 3 night of the trip. We had to move to the bed of the truck which was less than ideal. I ended up rigging a brace as I happen to have a drill, t slots, and hit up a commercial shot for some steel flat bar. (we were somewhat back in action)
( I will find a photo but would recommend a spare strut or event rigid brace just in case. Other brands have some similar items and likely for the same reason) I tossed the suggestion out of having their own included. This would have been awesome to have on the windy days.
    3. I came very close to losing my camper as all of my mounts to the bed came loose. 2 of them were every lose so my shell had shifted pretty enough for concern. (I recommend checking those periodically) I did not expect them to happen that quickly.
    4. My rear Blue Latches are the hardest MFing things to open most of the time. I have resorted to using a screwdriver to pop them open (poor tent with marks from doing so). @frenchee had success lubricating them so I may look into that but did provide the feedback to the SP folks.

All in all, they have been great and the struts are already fixed and back in action and likely will make a trip up to Portland late this year to have them go through and check the setup.

I had an issue with the blue latches within a week on my trip home from picking up the camper, same thing they were super hard to open first on one side, then both. And hard to close as well. Had some WD40 so gave it a couple squirts and it has been smooth ever since. When I picked up the camper the guys recommended checking tightness of the mounts after a couple hundred miles, and then again after a week or two. One mount was a bit loose, the others all tight. I've checked maybe once a month since and no issues. I assume the roads in Baja had plenty of washboard and bumps, which would not help.

I've had some dust inside, and have been working on sealing additional spots the last month or so. But I think a lot of it right now is coming from opening the rear or side doors after pulling up to a stop, without waiting for dust to clear. I had a canopy on a truck in the past that I didn't bother doing much to seal. The amount of dust I'd get inside was outrageous when I'd drive on logging roads. What I'm dealing with now is pretty minimal.

yah I had a shell before and id say it was pretty high. I sealed up the rear and looks like I need more. I think it was also getting in the doors and even some panels. Water getting in also was the best thing.

Def tons of washboard on the dirt roads. Never had it that bad in previous shell setup.

The biggest bummer was prob my strut braking making the tent useless for a bit.

So, how long have you had the camper and how much have you used it?

Was the wind crazy? Im surprised to hear the thing had so many issues.

Sorry to hear all this. I’ve also got troubles with my blue latch on one side and I’ve also noticed that the side doors don’t seal 100% in the middle. I’ve seen some dust intrusion here. This is a 6 foot bed so my doors are longer than a 5 foot bed, which may contribute. I’ve tried adjusting the latches for a tighter seal but that makes them not latch completely. Trying to find the sweet spot.
