Also with AT, the upgrade cost of adding the side hatch doors is beyond unreasonable. How they are not standard is beyond me.

Yeah the side door access was huge for me too, when going from the Flippac to the GFC I think that was the factor I was most stoked about. But paying a buttload extra for them sucks, would rather have it built in to the design

The FlipPac is still awesome, too bad they didn’t make it a few more years. Could of been a contender.

Yeah I liked the extra space. The fiberglass design was heavy, flipping it up with wind or weather really fuckin sucked, no side access, weird carpet inside, but the entire bed space all the time was really nice!

I am excited to have the entire bed access again in the Super Pacific, the front portion of the GFC bed was fixed and cut down on the usable space

same exact reasons i pulled the trigger!

I wanted side access had it on my snug top helps out a ton if your running a swing out. Told myself i wouldn't by another without it. By the time i added everything up all the add ons with the other designs i was around 10-12k minimum.

some good news emailed Spencer yesterday got a reply back last night. We are going to chat more about 2gen siderails. He did tell me They have installed 1 2gen 2015 longbed X-1 so fare within the last week or two he told me.

nice! where are the pictures! these X1 owners are hermits. Good to hear you heard back from him. I have been unsuccessful after a lot of constant.

To your point the side access was prob even more important. I had been devating adding windoors to my shell as I did not think of that use when I first got it so having some big ass doors to access from both sides due to swing out and accessing a ton of useable space was more important. price and delivery were the tipping point for me.

I liked the AT one too but weight and less space was a big part. I need to see how this X1 looks on the 2nd gen. hopefully we see a DCSB soon as well.

They do mention accessing it from multiple areas on the website. the tent and bed. the bed access is the common feature among any of these styles of setup. Maybe different wording but it mentioned the removable floor so you can access the bed and vice versa. The X1 does not come with a ladder assuming you will access it this way or you can add a tent to have multiple entry/exits.

I really didn't want to ditch my drawers since I love them, but thinking about the side access, I might want to.
I could build "shelving" or cupboards almost like @Toynado so that it's accessible whe the side doors are open. Other than that I personally don't see much use for the side doors in my application.

I really don't want to make new drawers out of 80/20 but its a possibility at this point. Would give me walking room in center of bed, and I could access stuff through the side doors.

you could leave your current setup intact. Being able to access from the side is killer option in my opinion. Your drawer setup is not too tall. The slide/platform I have it way too tall so that will have to go. I may or may not leave the slide but cut it down shorter. The plan was to make a newer slide setup but something off to the side. I have seen some cool setups for seating that I thought was rad and underneath would double as storage. I am still torn if i want to move my fridge to the bed (currently behind my seat) but the idea of getting space back is nice but then I lose the time to beer factor (unless i can access the fridge from the side doors which would also be just as easy.

Yeah I would love to have the fridge in the truck bed.
One step at a time, I'll get the camper first and see. I was thinking of selling my shell, RTT, rack, and drawers as the "overland special", get a bit of a markup on the combo.

    • Is tent rail color, the extrusion?
    • Do they offer hinge color still?
    • Did they offer the $200 window ?

    Thanks

Yeah i sold all my stuff with-in the last couple weeks i had more success selling separate but we are in different locations. I had a truck vault, RTT, shell, rack, and topper i unloaded. Kind of nice to have an open bed right now.

A friend of mine with a first gen double cab (like mine) sold his tent, shell, and DIY sliding platform for 2.5K... That's pretty damn good. Dont think individually would have been as much.
I think I would get more as a bundle. I'm going to list the shell rack and RTT together n see.

Where did you list your stuff for sale?
EDIT: Dang you got rid of the truck vault huh?

now it the time to do it... I have my shell and prinsu. Drawer slides setup could be sold but its a DYI so I may try to repurpose it. Partially thought I could tack the prinsu on top of the X1 too, depending on width.

i was under the impression that the window closest to the cab was included with the X1? you said you paid for both? I assume you only had to pay for the one at the back?

I posted here and facebook they sold pretty quickly on FB.

yeah i had a magnum height truck vault it was nice but took up the whole bed literally i had 4 “ of bed left with the shell i gained some back. wish i would of ordered the standard height or custom. Granted if i where to get another i do a decked or custom 80/20. I am looking at maybe getting some roam cases that i can remove or have different kits depending on trip and or location. Looking for more modular set up now with 2 dogs and wife.

Hinge/lock color is important! if the window option is gone I’m gonna be pissed.
