I peeled it off and sealed the other side with silicon. Very tight bead, can’t even notice. I hated seeing that stuff on there

Anyone else get an email from SP this week? I put my order in on May 18th, got a random email yesterday telling me my tentative install date is December 2021. But thats it. I thinknit was just an email to say "just keeping you in the loop."

Anyone in or around the Reno Nevada area that would be willing to let me check out there Super Pacific in person?

I am also very interested in buying someone's deposit if they have changed their mind.

    Thanks

I've heard from the Spencer and the Josh this week! My top is mostly complete and waiting on small parts to be finished in the next couple weeks. Working on piggybacking on a work trip to pick up mid July.

    Can't wait!

For those of you frustrated with the wait I should probably say again that I ordered last August.

Hmmm. So basically the law of unintended consequences: flush door hinge design doesn't work well, let's design our own hinges, oops door now drips rainwater inside, let's put in a gunnel to catch the water, oops gunnel needs to be bent at the corner which requires cutting, we'll just slap some sealant on the underside. I understood when I bought it that I was getting a first model that would probably have some unforeseen design issues, and overall it's extremely well crafted, but these kind of fixes bug me. Also, speaking of gunnels, having grown up fixing up boats with my dad, I think the idea is to seal on the outside, water-side, not the inside. I'm going to see if there's a better solution.

Still faster than Vagabond. It would’ve been 1 year 9 months and still counting. The person I sold my spot to still hasn’t got his yet. Technically he’s been only waiting 9 months since I sold my spot at the 1 year mark to get in on the SP.

Does anyone have suggestions for the lowest crossbars possible? My goal is to fit in the garage and just need enough space to run a strap under the crossbars. I want to strap a kayak directly to the crossbars.

Most crossbars are generally about the same height, around an inch. What you probably want to find is the lowest towers/mounts for those bars. Just remember they need to be off the roof enough to get straps and things under.

I know nothing about Prinsu but most folks here do. Maybe they have an option that addresses this? I'm kind of an old school Yakima/Thule/Rhino Rack guy personally.

How much room do you have to work with?

I'm planning on going a similar route.
80/20 bars and a few flat plates to mount on t slot tracks. Just need to source the plates somewhere.

I have my thule ones on for now but the making my own was my plan. The ones that roaming lost put on were front runner and they slit really low which also had me thinking the 80/20 route.

Prinsu does make a 1/2" option for mounting feet.

Alucab Load Bars are what I was planning, the have three footing options from flush, 40mm, and 60mm.

trying to fit in a standard height garage with the camper so it’s going to be tight. Someone suggested alucab which has an option that appears to be flush. That might be my best bet. Ultimately I’ll have to wait until I get the camper on to know for sure what my clearance is. I think alucab will work though.

I was going to build my own mounts with 3" steel flatbar as the anchors/mounts with 80/20 of some sort as the crossbars. Was thinking 1.5"x3" crossbars. Just cut and tap the ends. That way I can make it as low profile as I want.

Yeah its very hard to tell until you have the camper on, especially if the driveway or entry to the garage is on a slope. I had 3" of clearance except for the back passenger corner when the front driver wheel dips into a low spot in the lane. Only had 1" clearance there.

Something you can do now is check if you can adjust the garage door at all. When raised, mine didn't complete round the bend in the tracks so part of the door bottom was sticking down a couple inches. One twist of an adjustment screw on the motor and the door would raise so it was completely flat.

If your garage is standard height you should be ok unless you have a lift or larger tires than stock.
