Thanks. Pretty easy. Have a dovetail program saved that I can quickly adjust sizes and parameters.

One part of an entire assembly of components that make up the safety features on special seats for military and aerospace seating. That's about all I can say. Lol been working on these part numbers for the last week or so. Few more and the PO is done. All prototyping.. 1 part each.. but might come back with a larger order later.

Oh man... this brings me back to a 6month machine shop drop in I did a few years back.
I just don't have the patience for it. The fixturing, the meausring, the tooling, all to get within a few thou. Happy I'm the one sending off drawings now lol.

It definitely takes a certain type of person. Lol. I'm OCD as hell.. so the attention to detail and tedious stuff actually works out to my benefit. Turns out I'm pretty good at it due to those characteristics. Lol

And totally understandable... Just don't be the guy who sends out drawings that aren't correct.. or send a previous Rev, etc. dealing with that as we speak. That chunk of round bar is currently just sitting in my machine on hold.. because I found discrepancies between model and print. Been happening on a few of these parts from these guys... I'm assuming it's some fresh graduate.. which I'm sure you are far from.. not comparing at all. Lol

In the meantime.. knocking out a different part in another mill.

Yup, the guy that was mentoring me for those 6 months was anal as heck!! All the machinists were. Too tedious man lol.
Yeah, I work for a large company so there are many steps before releasing a drawing theres rarely an issue with it. If there's an issue the supplier sends it through our portal and it creates a ton of administrative work.
Those problem reports are reviewed weekly and if you get one for a bad drawing, man you better go running. Not good haha

I find it so rewarding though! Especially since we're a smaller job shop.. so we do it all. Engineering, CAD and CAM, machining, QC. Like that sand blasted part I posted above. Only my hands and our QC guy touched it. I did all the post processing as well. We take pride and responsibility for every step and everything we do.

And I know how that goes! I did some engineering work for a package design company before this for a while.. and they were much larger than most. So TONS of processes and hoops to jump through.. and caused all kinds of chaos when a drawing was incorrect.. internal or external. That was a fun place though.. and where I got my start doing my own designing and manufacturing.

    The Man.

He's a old school writer editor for some of the 4x4 mags and then started his own little YouTube show that eventually got picked up by Motortrend anyways. Big gear head thats kind of one the "regular guys". Been watching him for years, back on YouTube.. even got a chance to meet him in person once. Super nice humble guy.

Check out Dirt Every Day on YouTube and Amazon/Motortrend.

Oh, that guy. Sorry, way too common of a name and it slipped by me. I hear like 6 million names a day at work.

Anybody know if SP still building units based off of existing (but diminishing) materials inventory or are we all waiting for the mid-july extrusion inventory?

Installed a wheel mount for my bike on the bed rail recently. Nice to have it held securely and out of the way rather than getting tossed around on rough roads.

I had to move the SP mounting hardware in that corner over a bit. Discovered that it had loosened some, so I went around and checked them all. 3 of 4 needed tightening. I hadn't checked them since a couple weeks after I picked the camper up. FYI

Link to mount if interested https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mtb-wheel-hauler-contest-name-this-thing.711725/

First thing I thought about was "GoPro" mount...ahahahaha.
I retired from the Navy as a Draftsman. Forty years on the board and then this thing called autocad came along. Drew maps in land desktop for a few years and called it quits. Could not change the pencil for the click. LMAO.
Y'all have fun with that. Looks very interesting, and is fascinating but I'll be out camping.
