Hmm.. just noticed on the Standard Features list, the rear window is now included. We paid the $200 extra for that.. I'll have to reach out before we pick it up.

But the price also increased over all quite a bit. When i placed my order, the extra 200 is nothing compared to the price jump.

I was under the assumption that one of those molle panels comes with it? I was looking to get a couple. Maybe an awning mount.

Ive been watching venture 4wd on youtube. His pop up camper has a support pole inside. I cant tell, but do the SPs have one? Seems like a good idea.

Seems excessive. The gas struts are pretty damn strong.

Also psa with the 2nd gens. You’re gonna need to get a pop n lock because due to the design of the rear flange of the camper, you can pull the tailgate right down without opening the camper window.

The Vagabond drifter has a pole like that. It’s to hold the top up when carrying a heavy load on a roof rack, like a kayak, etc, in high winds. It’s not like it would collapse, it’s that high winds would push the struts down due to the extra weight. So they said. And I suppose if I’ve got 500lbs up there I might be worried about the struts breaking. I doubt they would both go at the same time, but I suppose it’s possible. It’s an easy enough DIY add on if you want. A pole of a certain length and a bracket at one of the top corners and at the front of the bed platform. FWIW in my SP I was in very high winds one night facing the wedge into the wind and I didn’t notice the top lowering at all.

The poles are more for keeping the top fully erect when you have weight up on the roof vs. keeping it from collapsing. If the roof is collapsing from wind, you got bigger problems

Not sure what the difference is between keeping it fully erect and not letting it collapse (no jokes please) but that’s what I was trying to say. One of the Vagabond owners I know only used the pole once when he had his kayak on top and the top stayed up but started coming down a little when the wind picked up. It was just the angle of the wind against the kayak, not failing struts. Anyway, point made.

Little shop update, was just down there and they got a BIG shipment of extrusion! Also, fuselages on fuselages stacked up ready for their tents and new owners.

Where does the extrusion come from? Just curious as yo why that seems to be what holds things up, aside from it being an integral part of the camper.

Not an expert on this but I think it's a local source and like a ton of other brands out there sourcing raw materials has been the main issue.

I was just curious if this was all dependent on China or something. I ordered 2 different specialty weights for my gym (i own a private personal training gym) and they advertised as if it was made in usa. Then i was told the hold up is the shipping container from effing china. So, i had to ask. For the extrusion, as long as its good and up to spec, thats fine. But for weights i and my clients hd in sweaty hands, i want to know whats in that steel. Had a friend who taugh classes vet metal poisoning from holding chinese made weights all day while she taught. It was proven the weights caused the issue. But i digress.

And before anyone calls bs, it isnt. Evwrything was tested by a lab. Food for thought.
