Guess would depend if its painted after the parts are assembled or before assembly. Doubt they would mask the rivets after assembled.

What are people thinking of for storage in the 5ft bed with one of these installed? I was planning a decked system to keep it super clean and just have a fridge, battery and propane up top. Maybe a fold out futon or storage box with pad for seating. I’ve seen a cool set up in a 6ft bed. Please share your ideas!

Figuring that out. I know some have a decked system. I may build some side storage that can double as some seating and possibly move my fridge to the back since I can open from the side. I have a swingout so my gas/propane is mounted there. I am really excited for massive side doors.

You’re right, I went back to my emails with Spencer. Camper cost plus $200 for the window. Definitely glad I got into the early bird pricing!

Looking at the pics with the tent deployed, I don't see a way to lower it, but I've also never owned/slept in an RTT. Are you supposed to stand on the tailgate, grab the sides and pull it down, or pull down on some of the fabric?

I'm def going Johnny Cash w/ the grey tent and back window.

usually they have pull tab or leash but yes you stand on tailgate and pull it down sometimes thwre is a bungie inside or out to help pull in the fabric.

Pretty much. There are some fancy veresions out there. CVT for one makes a tent that has automated shock to raise, lower it. In thoery we could do that too but is more weight and shit to fail.

It looks like Roaming Lost has a handle for pulling the tent down on the t-slot rails.

Any thoughts on overall payload with the super pacific or other wedge camper and potential issues in terms of performance and long term effect on the vehicle? Even with the 300lb, with other mods- tire and armour, fuel and passengers this gets pretty close, if not exceeds the payload capacity. I guess this also applies to RTTs and racks which reach similar payload capacity.

almost every expo rig on this sight exceeds the GVWR. The correct answer is yes but if/when who knows. I do not even have it yet and my truck is 7k lbs. You may want to weight your truck. Good chance your already over if have a ton of armor and stuff already. Depending which rear springs you have it would be good to review that.

The Super setup is only going to add 75 lbs or so to my truck so wont be a big deal. Spencer said the SB on a tacoma may be closer to 270-280.

If weight and mpg and all that are a big factor look into aluminum removing some armor, lighter weight armor, smaller tires etc. There is def a trade off having this expo style rigs.

I currently just have stock but trying to do the math of what I can add whilst staying within limit. I get to about 1000lb with full tank, 2 pax, super pacific and decked...I’d want to have aluminum armour and KO2s also for my rig.

you're always going to be chasing payload with the taco, its more a matter of how much over payload you're comfortable with given what you plan on using the truck for

Just mod the truck within reason. Decide what you want to do with it and plan.
Most people over-build. Stick with reasonable tire size, reasonable skid, pack light.

Swap out your leafs for HD leafs and all the worries away. :)
My truck sagged after a month with a leer shell, once I added the decked the leafs were maxed out from the constant load. you could even just add a single leaf to your stock pack but if you’re gonna do it, might as well do it right.

Not that adding a leaf is wrong.... just not how I’d want to do it.

Is getting more heavy duty leafs an expensive mod to get done professionally?

Leaf packs are super easy to do yourself. Usually $500-1000 for the springs depending on what you buy. Then whatever install is if you have someone else do it
