yeah they all bent on the trip home... I was telling myself wow did they even take these out on a trail? Seems like the mounting solution was an after thought. Its all scratched up and bent where the mounts are which is a real bummer. Hoping they really improve it soon.

They need to figure something out with this as it not only doesn’t work as-is, you have to put in a spacer if you have metal bed caps on a 2nd gen…

Exactly. I was thinking of adding a spacer but it's already bent. I was wondering if insert other name mounts would work that mount top and bottom.

These are just standard GCI Clamps. They make the extrusions and sell them to many companies that sell tonneau covers and shells.

I haven’t seen an X1 in person yet In order to come up with solutions, but I have always disliked the inner lip design as it makes it incompatible with swapping between different gen trucks and similar size other makes (Gladiator, for example)

yah the mounting for others is different as well. I had got the idea which is not groundbreaking from my old shell which had a similar idea but it clamped from the top not the side which is the issue. If it was top-down it would be better. Also likely a place where welding a thicker aluminum would help with support for areas under high stress. I can manage for now but some updates coming to the truck it will see more abuse then it already does.

I feel the super pacific was pretty well engineered but they totally failed on the mounts.

some great features and love the overall design but a few design choices need some improvement.

Mine is also coming loose all time and all scratched up, but not bent yet. I have the stock plastic bed rails, so that doesn't seem to help. I had a baby in June that we've been taking with us, so obviously not doing any crazy driving. I wonder if they're really working on a better solution. Seems like they have a lot going on with all the new Tundra and Jeep builds.

When i reached out they acknowledged they were not happy with it either and were looking into it. Well see what comes up. I noticed on newer ones the mounts for the doors the hook deal has changed. Older ones was a bolt now its u shape it connects to. Likely due to them moving. Mines been a page and bent the side on the door since it couldn't shut right.

I noticed that too on the new ones. I'm going over there next week to get a new tailgate flange installed. I'll show them mine then and see if they have any news on the mounting brackets.

Sounds good. did you lose your flange? I lucked out and found mine hanging off the rear. Once dust gets up in there high chance of losing it.

No, I've still got it. I just wasn't thrilled with the gaps at the sides where dust gets in. When I stopped by to get some of those 12v sockets plates, I asked if they had improved the flange and they agreed to replace mine. Not really sure how the newer ones are different. Glad I live nearby at least.

Yah let me know. I sent them a note about tons of dust. Not sure what they could do to improve it except use a thicker piece of rubber or have or extent farther. Even my hack with the strip doesn’t do the sides justice. I get tons of dust But that’s another story

Can you post a photo of said flange (for a 2nd gen)? I think you're talking about the side of the rear doors not sealing and letting dust in, but it's unclear.

FYI - While I own another brand camper, I'm not fully brand loyal. I want the best for my usage, functionality, reliability, and quality.

While I do post non-first hand, armchair engineer complaints about Super Pacific, I am still interested in the product when certain things are resolved.
