Hopefully you Baja Beta Tester Bois get replacements when they figure out their clamps. Or, since the whole thing is riveted together, they can just drill out the rivets and replace that bottom piece that is damaged.

Wait so it bent the lip that’s in the front part of the camper to keep it from moving forward and moved it 1” forward?

Ahh I had not thought of that. I’ll have to look but def based on a few things it seems it moved either that or it moved back then forward again haha so may be not an inch but enough to notice. I do only have a piece of starboard they added now I need to see if it touches any other part

Damnit guys... Y'all are not making me feel any better. :pout: All these issues.. are issues we will 100% see.. I guarantee it. We don't go easy on the truck.. it's purpose built and is a dedicated toy now.. and as @nudavinci64 said.. kinda defeats the purpose of my build. Aaaand we're waiting for our install date any day now. I'm for sure going to be checking everything over.. I'm just surprised and really bummed this stuff is getting sent out, and or having issues, or the changes to designs or materials (glass to plastic windows.. wtf..).

Just gotta say, I'm pretty sure I'm not as hard on my rig as many people, but I've taken it well off-road many times, and I just assume this somewhat heavy shell atop the bed rails may not stay fully attached under all circumstances. I mean, realistically, our choices are a shell on the bed rails, a much heavier slide-in camper bolted to the bed, or an even heavier camper clamped to the frame. Right? So I've chosen something that depends on the strength of the bed rails, a metal lip, and a few fasteners. Also, while I like the design, I can see it's basically a riveted frame with some doors carrying a heavy tent assembly. I expect if I hit a tree or slam the vehicle down some trail enough times there will be some damage.

I agree. I didn't mean I'm doing Fordyce or the Rubicon with it and leaning it up against a tree (not yet anyways). But I do hit washes and trails.. quite spirit-idly.. and occasionally bang a slider or frame on a rock shelf. I just want it to hold up and not fall apart during our regular shenanigans. For the price, and claim to quality.. I would think they took that (rigidity/securing it) into consideration.

You’ll be fine don’t worry. Just come up with a better clamping system since you can.

Washes are what really test vehicles. I did over 200 miles of washes in Baja, Rob, prob as much. A few fasteners on my truck came off and my window guide thing also came off. I do have a first gen so it’s got 174K of mileage already. All to say washes are very hard on vehicles. I think rock crawling and driving at slow speeds on trail is less harsh on the mounting hardware that is poorly designed.
I don’t get why they haven’t fixed it yet. I truly think it’s because Rob is prob the first guy to have thrown it through enough wash road to see issues. Although it sounds like it’s still going on?

Possibly it hasn’t had as much heavy use since then but I would assume it’s already at its extreme so can’t tighten it anymore.

Haha I did get 4 more. 2 for each side and 2 for the front. But naturally the bolts snapped trying to put them on. don’t ask me how but I was like go figure.
