RipRavoli lives in the area. Get in touch with Evan. He was kind enough to let me come down and crawl around his SP before I ordered mine.

Hey guys, my install is finally, officially happening tomorrow.
Driving up from the Seattle area.

I plan on taking a night to test it out on the return journey.
Anyone have any recommendations they could share for a great boondock spot or campground with availability within an hour or so North of Portland?

    Another Seattle SP? Sick!

Gifford Pinchot is in that area and obviously St Helens, but a bit out of the way.

You can camp at boat launches for free with a discover or WDFW pass (I think), there are some on the Cowlitz that aren't too far from I5. If I were you and were going to make a trip of it though, I'd head back the longer way via 84 and camp somewhere in eastern WA. Better weather and almost just as long of a drive if you factor in bullshit traffic.

Cheers @gnardoggie! These are great options. Really interested in Gifford Pinchot and approaching Ranier from the South. I will probably choose on the fly depending on what time I get out the door from SP (my install is scheduled for noon).

I spotted my first SP a few weeks ago in Issaquah. Black on White Tacoma. Really pumped to join the fraternity lol!

Rad! I've only seen one other so far - I think it was a grey truck.

I will be visiting the SLC area with my X1 for a week mid-october ... if you haven't been able to check one out before then.

So was looking at the front flap that’s supposed to hold it from going forward. The 2nd gens are not as tall in the bed as 3rd gens and SP added some starboard to level it out who is only held on by VHB. (They really love the stuff). Now looking at it there is no sold bed part holding the bed from moving forward. A bit of a funky angle but you can clearly see a gap and the rubber seal. Also prob some of the starboard if you look. The metal flap isn’t long enough to catch the bed. Come to think of it they should have made it longer so it could bolt up to the bed or even better design it for all. You can add the rail to 3rd gens too. The mount is an extra I got to help hold the X1 but prob won’t do much if it’s moving and I’m certain it has.

I would head out in the gorge to Carson and head north. Plenty of spots in the GP between Swift reservoir and Randle.

I recommend listing on Denver Craigslist if you will indeed be in Denver. There are a lot of people here into the Overland AF phase, although winter is coming quickly.
