I'm also a local too, which was a selling point. I've got a 10-year-old and a new baby. I almost ordered the Project M, but it wouldn't fit in my garage. Nothing against SP, but I'm not sure any of the wedge campers are that great of a setup with a baby. I put down the deposit on ours right before I got pregnant. When it was just the 3 of us, it worked out pretty well. Our 10-year-old is pretty hardy and was happy to throw down his mummy bag and sleep below us in the bed of the truck.

With a baby, you end up playing pass the baby up to the tent a lot and it's harder to keep them warm. I guess by the time you get whatever you order, your baby will be a toddler. Still I feel like the wedges are best for a couple, not a family. If you fill up the bed with your stuff, where is there for the kids to sleep. When you a drawer system, it's so hard to get in and out, at least with a Tacoma.

We bought used trailer last weekend, to kind of serve as our second bedroom. If I was starting from scratch, I'd just get a 4x4 van. I think the truck camper and trailer combo will be good for us, since our kids are so far apart in age. Two of us can take off with the truck to go hiking with the truck and the someone can stay at the camp spot with the baby. IMG_2069.jpg

Anyone know if SP has done any installs recently? Seems like they were posting installs on their Instagram but I haven’t seen anything for a while. Curious if anyone is getting theirs recently or if everyone keeps getting pushed back.

I got my install email from Josh and trying to figure out a date. More than likely looking at an 11/1 install. Super stoked and can't wait to get this ride going for the build.

Does anyone here have a SP installed on a 2nd or 3rd Tundra that could help me out with some dimensions? I was wondering what the outside width is on the bottom of the camper that sits on the bedrails. I'm guessing the inside sits flush with the inner part of the bedrail which is around 62.5" but I need the outside width. Thanks!

Just got our install email. Seeing if we can push it out a few weeks though so I can get the rear bumper thats almost done here and install it first.

Have you (or anyone else) thought about running the floods on the top rail so when the wedge is up it's way higher and throws light further?

You could run the wire all the way up towards the hinge inside the bottom rail and back to the rear/tailgate side along the top rail internally and then have it pop out for a clean install.

USAA is so easy to work with. Dang. No premium increase and done in 5 minutes. I'll pay a bit more for the ease of use with USAA!! They are awesome.

that posted did this. for me it depends how you angle them. When up it would be a lot different then when down. when at camp the other gtfo lights give me ample so haven’t really used the rear lights unless driving

Yea, the angles up vs down would be annoying instead of having just one set angle, plus you're looking at 2x your wiring length so you might have to increase the gauge at that point which could get annoying as well.

Where are you planning on having a hole cut for the exhaust?
Also, have you seen how @OG_BajaTaco mounted theirs in a non Super Pacific?

Yup - I've read up on that install. I'm going to be cutting a hole in the door, which will make it inoperable but I'm ok with that as my interior build out doesn't really need left door access anyways. I'm going to be cutting the chimney shorter and flush mounting the outer flange. It will technically be shorter than what Dickinson recommends for a horizontal exit, but after speaking with them it may only impact the efficiency of the unit not its true operation - once again, a compromise I'm willing to make/test for such a small space. If I was trying to heat a school bus it would be a different story.

I also didn't want to have to setup a chimney every time.

Yep, this is an issue with all overhanging campers that are wider than the roof rain gutters - not just wedges.
My idea is a custom roof rack that is wider and has a gutter built in, but is protected from the front to not greatly affect aerodynamics.

there's a guy that makes little deflection panels for GFCs - maybe he would do some SP ones when there are more units in the world.

So does anyone with an X1 use sirius XM? Does the antenna still function after installing the camper? I'm guessing not
