Cost I assume is what makes it “high end”. But it does look like a quality product. I have seen those in some of the expensive Sprinter van conversions.

I believe this is the same unit used by AT Overland as an option in their builds. I have not seen any reviews(other than Dylan's Facebook review LOL), but AT has a couple photos on their 'options' pages- and cost $2500 installed.

What's everyone s opinion on the acrylic back window. Better than glass? Pics?

Acrylic is lighter than glass, but scratches easier. Never use an abrasive cleaner on acrylic. Just look at aircraft windows for an example.
For a back window where you primarily are looking to let light in, acrylic should work fine. If you want to photograph through it, go for glass.

I have no issues with it. When I close and slam the back hatch, I'm actually happy it's acrylic and not glass.

Only reason I ask is the SP website says "glass" under standard options.

I believe the windows are now acrylic as standard, but I could be wrong.

Definitely acrylic. And idk if you guys remember.. but I was pretty adamant about getting glass.. since I paid for it, and it's an "option" on their site (even still apparently). I even emailed them telling them I'd like to keep it glass. Unfortunately.. this was one of the only issues that came up when we picked up our X1. They mentioned the acrylic during the first show and tell.. and I didn't even say anything before Josh interrupted and basically said I know you wanted glass, but we have been making the change due to weight and cost. I told him scratches were a definite concern of mine since we push through overgrown trails quite frequently. The truck clearly shows that. He replied with If it becomes an issue, just let us know, and we'll send out a replacement or come up with something.

Was a little irritated about that move.. not letting me know, even after getting confirmation from them in an email that they would keep it glass. We'll see.. again.. I'm gonna test it.

And this is exactly what I'm concerned about. I was under the impression it was still glass. How much weight are we really saving?

You could prob find a decent sized sheet of helicopter tape and just cover it.

Received a response from SP on the reason for the change to acrylic. I'm sold on it. If it doesn't work out can always get a piece of glass cut.

Received the exact same response before picking up my X1.

There's much more to see through the back now than when I had my solid SoftTopper tail flap...

That said the window is pretty high up anyways so you're not going to see much beyond below the top of hood of the car behind you depending on your lift. (that sentence got convoluted fast)

For backing up the camera and side mirrors are still key (turd gen).

I’ve had caps with both glass and acrylic rear windows. The acrylic flexes where as the glass does not. The glass has held up to scratches better than the acrylic. The acrylic is easier to replace than the glass (a DIY vs pro). Most acrylics will soften when above 325degrees F, but not glass. Acrylic is cheaper than glass (probably SP’s primary change reason). Acrylic can, not necessarily will, break down over a long period in UV. Some has better stabilizers than others. Glass will not.
All this said, personally a good quality acrylic will work for me in the back. Side windows would be more of an issue getting scratched and have been an issue on my pickup campers. Even driving in sand, dust at decent speeds has caused scratches in the side windows.

My current Snugtop on my 03 (now my granddaughter’s) is all glass and has held up extremely well.

I’ve had Over 30 RVs (campers, trailers, motorhomes) since 1955 and none…none are perfect. You will always find something to improve on.

Has anyone mounted a Yakima or Thule ski/snowboard rack to these? Wondering if I would need any special hardware
