Is it just me or does this tent have a serious design flaw? If it’s raining, what’s going to keep the moisture out of the doors? All other similar tents like the Alu Cab, Bush Company Alph, Camp King, etc. have a built in awning to keep rain from getting inside especially when the doors are open. Other than that, it looks really promising.

    Am I missing something?

It would appear there’s no way to open a door / window for ventilation during rain. But with everything closed, I wouldn’t be worried about water getting inside

If you look at pictures with doors open it looks like something like the Shittco Hack Blocks would work. GFCs are the same, they don't have a built in awning but the door can be propped up as one

Since the Switchback RT costs $4,300, which is more than the Alu-Cab and basically the same price as the Bush Company, I would think to be competitive that they would have and should have included this feature. Certainly would be a nice feature to have and wouldn’t think it would cost too much to add something similar. The X1 is still a great deal but would have liked to seen this feature included. But don’t see why someone would choose the RT over the others that have this feature. And seeing how they are a NW based company where it rains all the time, I’m surprised they didn't think of adding some kind of awning to their tents.

This style of RTT is significantly thinner than others. The Switchback RT is 6.125" closed. The AluCab Exped is 8.25" in the front to 11" tall. Bush Company ALPHA says 10.7 but I'm not sure what they mean by "including roof rails and base extrusions" but it's several inches taller then a hi-lift base which is 7.15".

4" may be the difference on lifted T4R between living in or out of the garage.

The CVT Mt. Hood and the Roofnest Falcon are only 6.5” which is similar to the RT and they both include a rear awning. Don’t really think adding a awning/rain fly of some sort adds to the thickness. If those two along with others can do it in a similar size thickness I don’t see why Super Pacific can’t also. And the tents I mentioned have 3” mattresses where Super Pacific has an air mattress so the RT has even have more room to include a awning.

Sounds like either of those may be a better option for those that feel an included awning is an important feature.

I'm picturing a rainfly/annex setup mounted in the extrusions of top shell.

Not an integrated setup, but has a lot of flexibility for anything custom. Maybe SP already has something in mind. Maybe they need my help. I've got lots of great ideas. For me.

As a resident of the PNW we don't use umbrellas when it rains. We can spot a tourist a mile away because they're using umbrellas LOL! Maybe that's why they didn't think about it but I'm just guessing LOL!

TBH I don't really understand a rainfly for RTT.
I guess for ventilation /view/fresh air makes sense tho. Would def want some ventilation if you're in there when its cold n rainy. (humidity)

I was in the shop talking to their media manager last week. They said they are working through ventilation for dogs, but Spencer is still trying to find the right solution. He did note, the nice thing about the door/hinges is they can be replaced or upgraded when that option is offered.
