No problem! Feel free to ask any questions about spots. Researching multiple camping options in areas you're targeting would be my only other suggestion. There isn't always good reception to re-route on the fly. It's an awesome trip. Redwoods especially is such a cool part of the state.

Hopefully you are able to check both of them out. If you can't track down a local I'm sure a few SPs will be visiting CO soon as summer arrives.

I love my X1. There are a few things I really like about it over a GFC....bigger sleeping platform, no diagonal supports blocking the side bay doors, better sleeping pad, vents on tent walls, better cable runs, and interior adaptability with extrusion slots and rivnuts. But I don't think I could justify an extra $3-4k to get those things. At the end of the day I just need a place to sleep that sets up and packs away quickly.

I'm in for a V1 (or V2) set once you iron out the bugs (if there happen to be any).

definitely will be v2.. and once I get the first set done for some testing on mine, I'll probably do a small batch.

I was in the same boat, but when I added up the cost of all the "upgrades" I wanted, like the tent side doors/windows ($525), topper windows ($400) and a color other than black/white ($400), the $8200 price shot up to $9500. Add in sales tax and it is about $10,250!! Full sized SP is $12,500 so it was really only about $2000 more. For $2000, you get a better bed/tent size, better mattress, better doors and latch hardware, better gear loading bc no angled braces, wire chases, vents etc.

I mean really?!?! $525 to add a zipper to the side of the tent!!! Forget that!!
$400 to use a different color on the paint/powder-coat?!?! It isn't like it costs them any extra for a different color...
I hate companies that try to nickel and dime me

@DividedSky don't forget the installation fee they charge o_O. I thought there wasn't sales tax in Montana?

Nope... no sales tax. My bad. How much is the install though?

I think it's $175. Not huge in the big picture but would still be annoying.

I know you have a Tundra. But my total bill was 8200 with all options and adding in accessories plus the install fee all rolled into it.
Biggest thing for me, I wasnt going to have to wait 10+ months for it.

so I did a thing over the last month or so. Fabbed up a roof rack. used some 3/16 structural aluminum, some 80/20 slats and button head bolts. turned out a fair match to the Prinsu on the cab. 9 slats is probably overkill but I plan on carrying my Flycraft boat and didn't want it to sag through and rub on the actual roof itself. total weight 35lbs. total costs with raw materials, powder coat, buying the aluminum saw blade, wide flute carbide burr, $680. roof rack side view.jpg roof rack top view 2.jpg

Wondering if anyone here had anything built out in their truck bed at the time of install?

Considering driving out the OR with some cabinets and the floor build in the bed, and wondering if they would get in the way of install. Any details of the install experience would be helpful

The only issue I can think of is being able to access the side rails inside to secure the camper. The camper is basically lowered onto the bed using a forklift with people guiding it. Then they install the clamps inside to hold it. If the cabinets can be detached and moved out of the way for the install it shouldn't be a problem...unless of course the clamps interfere with how you had the cabinets attached. The floor shouldn't cause any issues.
