its not the caps. The clamps they designed were for the 3rd gen which is 1" higher so you keep cranking down but they never sit flush. That, combined with the aluminum x1 have bent the shell a bit. I think it comes down to how you drive your truck. if your on mild fire roads likely not much if your mashing through the dessert or in rocks it going to take a beating. If I still have issues I am considering something welded or bottled which will be more solid but the new gaudy over priced mounts well see how they fair.

the front part to me is the bigger issues and probably one part that made the clamps even worse. I had nothing preventing it from moving forward. the spacer and vhb tape they added is not a solid part. Right now in the spot where it likes its 3/4" or so away from the bed and the firs trip out I expect it to shift again. The new mounts may do a better job but you can see from the marks on my shell its pulling good on the X1.

yah its not the bed caps and for 2nd gens its still that front part. I would have preferred they were bolting a plate-like @XPOTRPR did and not just some VHB and Starboard. At the time it was still new to everyone and no one had a clue yet. Cost of metal is about $80 and a few holes and hardware. The extra $150 or so ball park should be included or added to the cost for 2nd gens.

When I picked mine up in late February they charged $500 for an adapter shim that takes up the lost space.
If there's enough friction between the camper and bedside you shouldn't need the front piece. If anything that will put weird stresses on the bed it isn't designed for. If the clamps don't loosen the camper shouldn't move.

    Welp, I'm a dummy

Realized it's been a while since I checked the bolts and sure enough 7 out of the 8 were loose. I also realized I have the lip on the front of mine...

I posted about it a while back on the GFC forum but i will copy and past here instead if rewriting.I’ll start by stating the obvious. With any new product there will be issues, I believe I had the 2nd SP in a long bed configuration.
My biggest issue by far was their customer service/communication.
Immediately I had issues with the side doors sealing. Water intrusion would happen at the bottom seal as my tires kicked up water.
I reached out to their team and they told me It was probably due to the latches not engaging properly and they would need to be adjusted. Mind you this was on my drive home from installation. It was difficult to get them to respond in a timely manner.
After assuring them that the issue was not due to the latches they had a local long bed customer come by their shop to verify the potential issue. I was bothered by this as they made me feel that what I was experiencing wasn’t relevant if no one else was experiencing the same issue. Low and behold the issue was not specific to my camper. They issued a fix of adding an additional bulb seal. They sent the seal with install instructions at no charge. This took nearly a month from complaint to package arrival.
Also, when I was in Portland for installation they had run out of “serial number” plates and all of the 12v items and pillar cover plates that are supposed come along with the camper. I didn’t receive any of those for 8+ months and I had to hound them monthly about it. Install was December, package arrived in August.
As time went on I began to have more issues with all of the doors due to the latches. They would never lock into the 2nd stage of closure no matter how many times I adjusted them. They have since moved to a new stuff latch which I asked to have retrofitted to my camper and offered to cover the cost. I still have not received a response on that. There were other issues with dust and water intrusion as expected.
Long story long, their customer service was garbage in my experience.

Thanks for the honest feedback that their customer service is going downhill / hit or miss / etc. It sounds like they are scaling quickly like GFC and hopefully it doesn't get out of hand like the V1 GFC issues.

Yah wouldn’t call it downhill this was form the beginning. when you catch their attention they respond but you have to call them out. funny @justrussell i had a day of heavy rain and mud and did get a to. If it inside and didn’t think much of it. This confirms it. I def wish I had the updated doors and latches the old ones are hacked garbage

What shim did they charge you $500 for? did they had a metal bar to fix the deficiency if the camper then charge you?

It’s even funny they out 8 on yours. They gave me 4 then I asked for 2 more but didn’t matter. They will loosen. The lip is designed to help but again is for 3rd gens it’s useless for other gens without modifications.

I always get a reply, but i am rare, i dont expect people to get back to me in 1 or 2 days. If youve been to the new shop recently, you would see how busy they are. And im sure some emails are more important to respond to quickly vs emails that can wait. Give them a few days, a week even.

Keep trying. It can take a week or so at least before or longer: I don’t expect right away but reasonable acknowledgment.

Install on my 3rd Gen next week! Wondering now if the upgraded clamps will be an option. Anyways I’m all packed up and heading to Portland, Or from Austin, Tx.

Has anyone looked into the Affirm financing Super Pacific offers? I’m curious what kind of terms are offered. I’m assuming bad but you never know…
