Hey guys, longtime lurker. I've gotten an offer down to $30,600 for a 4x4 SR5 Entune /w Nav MSRP $32700. +TTL would leave me at $31,000. It has 250 miles on it from a dealer exchange. I wasn't to thrilled about that but configuration is close enough to what I was looking for. Don't really need the nav but oh well.

This would be my first purchase so I've been hesitant and looking for something to push me over the edge. Getting this close I'm even starting to reconsider about getting something smaller like a Mazda CX-5 because as of now I wouldn't really be getting the full use out of a truck. What do you guys think about that deal?

After looking extensively for a used Tacoma, I found that since they hold their values to such a crazy extent, that it made the most sense to go new.

I have a down payment on a '14 4x4 Access Cab, V6, Manual, base for $25,400, out the door. (NH has no sales tax). This is $1950 below MSRP.

    Your take?

Love the site. If I close the deal, will post on new member thread.

The tax, tag, and title are included in that price. Got mine at Marietta Toyota. Cobb County Toyota wanted the same price basically. Only $100 more without the lifetime warranty. Warranty isn't transferrable.

Dude, I've sent you at least 2 PMs with advice on this...I don't know if you're getting them so I'll post here. This is the same BS that I got in GA - almost verbatim. But I was looking for a white one. I'm telling you, and this is the last time I'll mention it, you need to try out the Bragg strategy and make your car buying easier and cheaper. You are heading down a road to misery IMO. You can PM me if you want. I'll leave it at that.

    Hi there Braveswin...

Got your PMs, and they are appreciated. My struggle has been actually locating anything spruce Mica. I appreciate your suggestions and referral to Bragg. I'm actually happy with the price/ the truck/the dealer, and looking forward to the trip.

I may have been able to work a little harder and a little longer, and may have saved maybe as much as $1000, but I'm real happy to physically get my hands on what I want.

Thank you, and I will make sure to post pics when I get it....

I am an owner of a 2012 Tacoma Access Cab 4x2 TRD Sport bought brand new. I love the look of the truck and I am a very proud owner. With that being said, it is completely embarrassing how much these little trucks are costing nowadays. I recently inquired about a 2014 4x4 TRD OR DC tacoma and the price was insane for a v-6 short bed truck 4x4. Then I was told you can't have this, you can't have that and to get the color you want it will take a deposit and you will have to wait 4-6 weeks minimum. I have been to several dealers here in Texas and all of them really do not negotiate on price or options.

The very best deal was $35,600 + TTL. I just cannot justify paying that much for a Tacoma. I know it is apple/oranges and all but I could get a full size truck with a big v-8 double cab 4X4 for the same price and it came with leather and Z71. Heck the Tundra 4x4 5.7L crewmax I got them down to $36,000 +TTL. What are we paying such extreme prices on? I love my little truck because it fits into my garage nicely and looks like a bad beasty, but reality is it is squatted nicely with two motorcycles in the bed - or one full size street bike. I am not sure 35k is an appropriate price point for these trucks - i guess as long as the market supports such crazy amounts then stealerships will continue to build new Toyota centers with granite floors and Colosseum style floor plans. We need to wake up and say NO! I am not bashing or hating on anyone buying the Tacoma; but personally I cannot pay $36K+ on a mid-size truck.

you must be going to the wrong dealers. i walked into my dealership told them what i wanted and what i was paying but they didnt have one. i got my dcsb offroad 4x4 for 32k+TTL. but they didnt even have one in stock and went all the way up to iowa and got one from another dealer.

I had checked out Jerry Durant Toyota and Durant Toyota in Granbury and Weatherford. Talked to a couple of salesmen, they were quoting me about $34k+TTL for a brand new 2014 DC 4x4 TRD Off Road. Thought that was the best price I was getting in this sea of TSS, TForce and Texas Edition trucks. Told the guy at Jerry Durant Toyota to start looking and he said he needed a deposit just to start looking. I was hesitant because that raised a red flag, but since I'm in Austin, he was willing to take the deposit via credit card. I figured I could just call my CC company and get the charge revoked if something went south, so I went ahead.

This guy ultimately told me that they don't make that truck with navi (which is what I wanted), which I'm finding out to be a lie because I now own one with navi.

In the end, I went with Autonation here in South Austin. $32,600+TTL with predator tube steps, tow package, vehicle shield and carpet + door sill protectors. Easiest car transaction I've ever witnessed. The great thing was, they didn't have my truck. When I told the salesman what I wanted, he looked at what was being made and nabbed one for me. No deposit, nothing. Showed up when the truck was delivered, test drove it, got a trade appraisal, and on to financing and delivery.

If you want I can give you the number of the salesman who sold me my truck. He was a great guy, and Austin's not too far from Waco to get a great truck for ~$4k less than what you've been seeing.

End of January I picked up a 2014 DCLB TRD Sport V6 4x4 Auto, Entune Plus, Tow package in Ble Ribbon Metallic.
    MSRP $33,530. OTD $30,500.
No extended warrantee or service plan.
Also cost $700 when I registered it at the town office - 16 month registration - most of that is basically a property tax which goes down each year. In May 2015 it will probably be about $400-500 and keep going down each year, settling in at about $100 after 5-6 years.

I sent out emails the night before to the 3 dealers in my basic area asking them to give me their best price on the configuration I was looking for (as above but was looking for SR5 trim)
This price for the Sport was a couple hundred less than the next best price for the SR5. Nothing on the sport that I think is better, but with a lower price and in the color I wanted, it was pretty straightforward.
As opposed to the other poster out west, around here Spruce Mica seemed to be one of the more common colors in the configuration I was looking at. That would have been my second color choice.
Only tough part was that most dealers only had one or two long beds in stock at any given time.
This one was a dealer trade which was't even listed on their web inventory when I looked. Had 125 miles on it.
Was hoping for better on the trade but probably couldn't have done much better from a dealer and didn't want to deal with selling it myself.

Just as they were handing us the manual and final paperwork, they realized there was a note that the trading dealership had only sent 1 key. Said they'd get the key and mail it to me. Either they never followed up or just couldn't find it, so after a couple weeks they ended up making a new key.
Reasonably pleasant experience. No real negotiation with the email quote in hand. Salesman could have been more aggressive following up with the key issue, but worked out in the end.
Happy with the truck so far. Bad choice buying in the middle of winter - have yet to get a good look at it not covered in salt. Still have a hard time turning a dial to get into 4wd.
Throttle response is definitely different than my 2001- I know it has more power, but you have to mash the pedal down quite a bit further to make it feel like it's got any pep. May result in better fuel economy, though.
Mileage seems to be just about the same 18-19 as my old truck for the mixed dirt & paved roads I mostly drive, including a fair amount of 4wd in the snow we've had lately.

I got 10 and 13 years and 200k miles each out of the 2 previous toyota pickups so hopefully this will do as well.

Got my 2014 - Regular Cab / 4 Wheel Drive / 4 Cylinder / Manual Trans / Rubber Floor Mats and Bed Mat = $21,675 + TT (and I'm still HAPPY about it!)

Started out on carfinder.com - speced it out and went from there, found several in inventory in my area, they sent bids to me, the lowest bid won.

Started emailing directly with the low bid dealer, test drove the Magnetic Gray Tacoma below (his stock /wanted Silver first) and eventually bought it.

Sorry Silver Guys - So Glad That Happened! Never Knew How Nice The Magnetic Gray Metallic Was Until I Saw It! Only Change I Made To The Order.

Yes, please send me the contact information. I am willing to drive without question. I have already been to three dealerships in Dallas, one in Killeen, only one in Waco, one is Temple and 2 in Houston. Maybe Austin will be different?

I went through the Costco Auto program who sent my inquiry to Arapahoe Autonation Toyota (in Centennial CO), which was fantastic. They've already done all the negotiating. Got to deal with the fleet manager in the back, no haggling or typical back and forth, it was all cut and dry spelled out right in front of me.

So I am about to purchase my 3rd Tacoma. Originally bought 2006 double cab, pretty plain, but loved it! My Dad bought a 2009 TRD with lots of options and after a year of driving it was ready to get something else (Never keeps anything more than a year). I traded him and he sold my 2006. I kept the 2009 until this past summer Jul '13, had it appraised at CarMax and they offered me $19,500........it was paid off, so why yes, check please! I went back to a sports car, 2011 BMW M3.....love it, but miss the truck!!!! Just worked a deal and was able to get some equity I had put in the beamer back out to put some cash in my pocket. Anyhow, buying a 2014 2WD Red, Double Cab, TRD Sport, Entune Plus w/JBL option, Nav, color match bumpers\mirrors....etc. Out the door ttl $32,675. Sad the selection that the dealers here have on the lot and there was hardly any dealing going on. Truck is getting shipped from a state or so away, can't wait!
