My mom had a 2005 2.7 with the 5spd manual, I was too young to drive it but it seemed like it had more pickup then my 2012 2.7 4spd auto. Although the access cab probably adds quite a bit of weight too. I'm happy with the automatic, the 5spd would probably be a little quicker but I also ain't about the 5spd sitting in traffic lyfe

Tire sizes are so confusing haha. Idk, I don't want to go bigger then 265/70. 255 would be alright too I guess.

Yeah I'm done with 245s. I'll probably just go with the 265s or I'll see how the 255s look

I offroad near lots of shale and i tow.

However, even if i didn't do either of those, i'd still by LTs for the strength.
You can strike a p rated tire on a curb just the wrong way and it'll tear the sidewall. I cut a P rated tire on a piece of exhaust pipe on the interstate, that would be dramatically less likely to occur with a higher ply LT tire.

The 5speed may have an extra gear, but the auto has overdrive. It's gonna be a lot better highway

Yeee. Like I said, I'm happy with the auto. I like standard transmissions as well, but not in a daily. Manual is for the weekend toy :D which I don't have..yet ;)

Manual>auto. Not a real truck unless there's 3 pedals and 2 sticks. Which means my Prerunner is out and so is your truck lol

People can keep their "real trucks" then. I don't like losing my left leg in traffic lol.

Maybe for driving downhill. My '14 2.7 5sp AC does 80 mph in 5th gear @ 2900 rpm. The 2.7 won't keep 4300lbs moving 80 mph on flat ground at less rpm IMO.

3-4 k on the tach is where you start getting good power with the 2.7.

I'm talking flat highway driving. The auto will get better mpg. I wouldn't, and you shouldn't tow 4300lbs with the 2.7 anyway. It's not rated for it lol. And 80 is not the speed limit lol

4300 lbs is the total weight of a 4x4 AC second gen with a 2.7.

I think my pickup does 65 mph in 5th at around 2400 rpm. I'll check to make sure, though.

The 2.7 doesn't have a lot of bottom end power. OD is useless IMO.

Yeah, I notice when I'm on the freeway, when I'm going through the big interstate switcher things, even the slightest increase (edit: hill increase) and my truck will pop out of OD. Not that big of a deal though, it can keep up at 80 or 85 and that's as fast as I need to go.
