why are you choosing the zerex coolant as opposed to the Toyota pink stuff?

won't your Tacoma be less perfect without the proper pink juice?

if it already has the pink coolant you have to flush the entire system?

Mixing different brands is when you run into trouble, just gotta flush the old stuff out if you want to put in a different brand

Yep doing an entire flush w/ new thermo and gasket. New hoses, distilled water, fresh thermo cap and constant tension clamps. :)

Not going that far in on this run. Will change with timing belt when it's due. Truck is having zero issues temp wise. Never moves off of half way on temp gauge other than when it's cold of course. That item is on the bottom of my to do this weekend and I just want to make sure I have the stuff for it, in case it happens in a more unexpected way.

Still getting to know her of course. Have only put a 150 miles on it since I purchased it.

Did the Sea foam treatment tonight via the vacuum line. Ran it in the oil for just over 100 miles and put a whole can in with the full tank of fuel I put in when purchased.

Changed the oil and filter tonight. Went good. Oil was black as night. Truck smoked a fair bit after the treatment but not as much as some others I have seen. I can say 100% that my throttle response and idle are smoother. Wasn't expecting much so am very pleased with the result.

Got the vacuum lines switched out between there as well to the new silicone ones I purchased. Several of them I removed were very badly cracked at the ends. Didn't even feel like rubber anymore.

Tomorrow is going to be a blast. So much to do, so little time...

Nice to see someone not afraid of high mileage.

Great looking truck btw. Looking forward to follow your progress on how and what you do with it.

Yep. Both are OE. Motor runs like a top. Smooth and quiet. Hasn't used a lick of oil thus far.

    Thanks!

Yeah for the milage she is well cared for. I am not worried about the high milage at all. With the build I have planned most of the worn out stuff is naturally getting replaced anyway such as suspension and front end components. This way I can put manual hubs when I convert to 4x4 and Manual trans sometime before that. Lots of other things to inspect and replace before those.

Have some grease coming from Amazon to grease the slip yoke on the drive shaft. Pretty sure I have some play / thunk happening there. Using that special grease from Ford for that...

Should have lots more information today. Now that I have some time to actually work on her. Well except for working 4 hours this morning to cover for someone else (cry all the way to the bank, more money for parts... viscous cycle :) )

So I am setting up my Torque Pro app and picking out what tiles (sensors) I want to monitor. Wonder if you guys have any suggestions? Here is what I have so far.

    1. Engine Temp
    2. Auto Trans Temp
    3. Volts from OBD port

There are so many options available. Hoping to see what others may have found useful.

Other question I have to hopefully save some time. My Tach illumination is very soft in 5-9000 range. I am thinking maybe there is a second bulb that lights that half? or was this by design? Also the middle portion of my AC adjustment switches (the one that controls hot/cold) is not lit up at all. Fan speed and air outlet options are both lit. Does that also have a separate bulb? If so does anybody happen to have the bulb number handy.

Hoping to have time today to start my build thread. Got a lot of shit done this weekend. Though it was way to damn hot to be in the garage.
