Electric truck aside......why are they giving away a Raptor!? To trade in against one of their electric trucks!?

Makes no sense to me haha

Check out the Bollinger B1 in the meantime. Actual company, actual vehicle already

That one’s not a legit long term contender to me because of that 80mi range. Load that down and she’ll get way less than that

I have no skin in this game, aside from wanting something cool in 2028 when I update my 2017 TRDOR DCLB. 15” of ground clearance sounds cool.

That's the problem any pickup will have. Bollinger can say what they want but, simple engineering calculations using today's available technology gives the same conclusion... limited range. If they put enough batteries in there for the range, there goes your payload and room. Catch 22, which is why the big boys are not doing it yet.

The best model to use with today's tech is a small lightweight low payload vehicle. Nissan leaf or Chevy Spark.

Workhorse is the best you can get in a battery truck until tech improves. Simple physics.

300 mile range with a charge time of 15 minutes? Comparable Tesla Model X achieves 300 mile range with a 100 kWh battery pack. To charge it in 15 minutes means an energy transfer rate of 400 kW. 10 trucks charging at the same time would mean a power draw of 4 MW from the grid...

Do you need to know, or care?
For off-road, having all that torque upfront in an electric motor makes sense. Range would be the most important thing to me. 80 miles on a charge would not be something that would interest me.

Batteries today aren't ready yet. We need a new power storage technology.

Also, the charge time listed as 15 minutes is impossible.

I don’t disagree. Just stumbled across this and figured it would be fun to let the TW experts rip it to pieces.

I am hopeful there will be something rad for us down the road however.

It's says shares are .29$ and that you need a 100 shares to enter the contest. Down at the bottom on my phone a little window popped up saying it was like a 206.00 minimum investment. Wth! Is with that? So how does 30 bucks become a 200 minimum?

It does if it can be charged using kinetic energy or a good solar unit. Just the cost will go up.

Have you seen The Martian? Dude killed it by letting the solar panels run all day and then raged all night. He did have a plutonium reactor to keep him warm though...

Never saw it, but as long as the truck has momentum (kinetic energy) you should be able to charge a reserve unit, kind of like having a double fuel tank.

I agree, but at least the bollinger is starting with a range that’s ok to come down from

Kinetic energy charging, AKA regenerative braking, requires a hybrid, not pure electric. Solar charging would take forever.

You should watch it. Dude scienced the fuck out of Mars. Grew potatoes out of poop and stuff, baja’d his way across Mars in a solar powered Rad-machine and then strapped himself to a rocket and got saved. Like Jesus only feasible.

Oh you meant the movie, lol. Yeah I saw it and yeah he scienced the shit out of that.

Maybe, but we are looking at all viable options here. Maybe add little wind mills along the body panels like vents.
