I've emailed that Fonzi guy directly and he got back to me the same day. But I think those metallic colors cover the same way, you might actually have to mix colors if you want bronze. But who knows, maybe a black base would darken it a bit? Might as well try it and if it doesnt work you're only out a few bucks.

jtye is right. The plastidip color is opaque and, once you get full coverage, you won't be able to see any hint of the underlying color. If you want to go bronze, you can order the dip by the gallon and mix it yourself. I think that would be an awesome color and I bet other people would want to buy some from you once you're done.

I don't know how much experience you have with paint, or your equipment, but Fonzie has some videos on the net that detail how to mix plastidip. You will need your own paint gun to apply it too. If you don't want to do that, you can always contact DipYourCar and ask how much it would be for them to do a custom color and send it to you as well.

After a couple of failed attempts at my lower valence, I finally got it right. I must say it works like a dream and I plan on doing my entire front bumper and grill surround and eventually the chrome rear bumper. I put at least 6 or 7 coats on my lower valence in black of course and it has held up flawlessly, no scratches or chips for about 5 months now.

I am about to plasti dip my badges and wheels on my 2009 Magnetic Gray Tacoma 4x4. Just upsized the tires to BFG All Terrain KOs. So the rest of the truck needs to start looking meaner. I am gonna black out the badges. I want to plasti dip the chrome on the front grill and back bumper. Grill is color matched except for the chrome outline. I don't want to do black for these. So is the Gun Metal gray or Anthracite Gray a closer match to the Mangetic Gray. We don't have any in any stores around here except black and white, so I can't compare. I will be ordering from internet and want to get the right color. Next question. Should I black out wheels or use the same gray as grill/bumper? I am planning on dipping everything on tire except for chrome lugs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Gunmetal, IMHO, looks to me like blue/gray primer. Anthracite is closer to your color, but double check my previous post and Lumpskies where we gave close up pics of it. There are pics on dipyourcar.com of the gunmetal, so it's your call on which.

I wish I had derp options, only black and white for me. Oh, and the glossifier. Hopefully soon the metalic collors will be in stores. I can get the derp and home depot or walmart, but I wish they had more options. Plus, this stuff goes like crazy, everytime im at the store I run by the paint isle and theres always only a can or two left on the shelf.

Metallics are exclusive to dipyourcar.com. They even had a sticker made and put it on the can. Fonzie must have some pull with the PlastiDip people. You will only get basic colors at HD and the other big boxes.

I agree with Agent Smith. I think you'll be happier with the anthracite.

I recall watching a YouTube video from the user DipYourCarcom which did the gold over a white base and also over a black base to show the difference in the final outcome. If I remember correctly the black base will give you more of a bronze outcome.

I found that getting Dip in the winter and spring time was super easy. I have tried not to run out because when I have just gone to stores to look and see what they had, they hardly had any(Summer). There is a place where I live that now has glow in the dark Plasti Dip(they do vehicles, rims etc). I have been looking around online and seeing if I can find videos or pictures, not very much out there. Does anyone have pictures of videos of them doing glow in the dark dip?

So far I have done my emblems, gas tank cover, Macbook twice and roof console. I love the stuff.

Did me some wheel dippage yesterday. Makes the stock wheels look a little sharper, almost like poor-man's Cepeks :D

Has anyone ever tried the clear plasti dip and used it as a replacement for 3M rock guard? If you put enough coats of PD, it should hold up right?
