Yep! Just wash, dry, prep. Respray new color, done. No need to peel off and start again. You should have a base coat with red since that red has really shitty coverage if you don't have a base coat(like blue).

Newbie here and plan to PD my emblems black. I was planning to buy or paint emblems black until I came across this. Question: How much texture is there with the PD, obviously paint is smooth but will the PD look textured or grainy? Have looked at lots of pics but would like first hand report. Also in reading have mixed reports of drying time for last coat to ensure easy peel off. I plan to clean emblems with alcohol, apply 6 coats with gradual increase in % with lasts 2 coats 100%. For best results do I lift off after 1-2 minutes or better after 10 minutes? Plan to do in dry climate, outside temp 70 to 80 degrees. Thanks for any input, mcdee.

It's not 100% smooth like paint, some orange peel. You have to look close to see it though, so I don't know how picky you are. There is a bit of a grippy texture to it, after all it's for tool handles and shit. Can't speak to your question about the peeling around emblems, I de-badged mine years ago.

PD is one of the products that is trial and error. More than likely since that you are new to dipping then there is going to be texture. It's something that you can't really prevent. I dipped my emblems a year ago now and they are still holding up. When I had dipped I had no idea what texture was, I just dipped them. I find unless you're up close that's the only way that you're going to really notice it.

Start off doing thin coats. Build up that base layer. If you just go lay it on thick, its not going to work all that well. 6 Coats is going to be fine. If you are using the stock nozzles with the cans then you're going to have to do more passes to get it thicker. Wait 15-20 minutes between coats. When you finish your last layer, take the tape off when the dip is still wet. If you wait too long to take the tape off and the dip dries the dip is going to come off with the tape when you take it off. Have a few inches between your project and your spray. If you spray too close you're going to get more texture. You could also get runs. If you spray too far away then you're not going to get the coverage.

This was my first dip project on my Tacoma. As you can tell, it was colder than what you did. As you can see, there still was snow on the ground.

Y'all are way over thinking this just spray 3 light coats 2 mins apart from about 8-10 inches away then 2 heavy coats 20 mins apart in emblems or small things that won't get a lot of abuse like wheels I just do one light coat 5 mins then a heavy coat... Get a can and mess around with it, its crazy simple to do.

    :(
Thanks for info, I went to lowes and bought materials and I'll give it a go. After my post/questions I went to Lowes and happened to see a red tacoma with black PD badges, texture was less than I had imagined. This was the first time I had noticed PD, looked good.

If those nozzles work as good as video says, that'll be great. $5 for 2 nozzles, in case one gets damaged. Worth it for better results

It comes down to technique and practice. There are processes and everyone has their own process and how they do their own dipping. Prepping makes a big difference as well. The nozzles work for me, they may not work for the next person.
