Well, I've read somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 pages of this thread today, and now I'm going to derp the derping derp out of my Tacoma (sometime soon). Thank you all for giving me yet another hobby and possibly the reason my wife finally leaves me :D

I've been reading page after page about the plasti-dip and had a question. I was wondering if I can use this stuff on a plastic flashlight? Basically the thing is a polymer light and I plan on taping it off and roughing it up a bit before I paint it. I guess the real question is how does this stuff handle heat? Plan on using the light at work and things can get a little toasty from time to time.

Thanks for all the help and I apologize if this isn't in the right thread.

Some people actually have it on their exhaust, so you could say it handles heat very well.

Black handles heat just fine. Can't say much about other colors but red faded over time on my exhaust

Ok you plasti derp experts. Got a couple questions. I'm wanting to dip my wheels. I only have my one jack and no stands. Can you dip them while still on truck? What kinda prep needs to be done to the wheels? How many coats should be applied? Thanks in advance.

I have done mine on the truck. Make sure to cover your rotors. I just stuffed plastic bags in there and made sure they weren't touching the rim. I just washed mine with whatever I use to wash the truck. Make sure they are COMPLETELY dry. Water likes to hide where the tire meets the rim so double check that. I can't remember how many coats I put on I think 3 or 4. The more coats you add and the easier it is to pull off if you don't like it.

Something a little different. I use plastidip on the side tables of my grill. It protects it against dings from the cleaning brush etc. Also, when I put a glass dish down there the rubber surface gives it some grip so it does not slide around so easily. I also sprayed the legs of the grill since that's the first area to show rust.

Derped my grill. I made a couple mistakes and will probably peel and re-spray, but I like the look. Makes the horns really pop!

What color was it before? ^^^^ I'd much prefer a color matched one on that nice speedway blue than black plastidip.

Check out the DipYourCar videos on Youtube. They give a lot of advice about dipping wheels while they're on the vehicle. I personally like to take them off, but whatever works.

I like seeing Plasti-Dip used in non-car ways as well. Looks good!

It's chrome. Color matched is my back up plan if I can't get this exactly how I want it

Oh that sucks. You should color match that grille and put the "raptor" grille lights as some call it like I have. I have the same grille and a cool way to attach the lights with no drilling of the truck
