If I didn't plan on taking off the color at a later time but wouldn't it make more sense just to spray paint my emblems instead of derping them? I also plan on doing my grill black and I can't see the reasoning behind doing dip instead of paint

Attempted to derp my wheels today and I can't get a socket or factory wrench on the front lug nuts. WTF!!! 19c01266c4e0bd521067aabffdce7373_e221e1e3129152eb702a153de603359dba3827dc.jpg

Did some dippin' for the first time this past weekend.. Has anyone tried both methods: dippin with badges left on AND debadging, dip then rebadge?

I imagine the latter would look better, but might be more of a headache when it comes to rebadging?

    Thoughts?

If you're going to go through the effort to debadge you might as well just use paint and clearcoat. It will last way longer and look much better than plasti dipimage.jpg

I would say your lug nuts could be "swollen" as that happens with the oem ones from toyota, but it looks like you have a newer truck due to the length of the mudflaps

I don't assume the paint/clear coat is as easy to remove as plastidip?

You probably won't be able to remove it, so make sure to get a color that you like and to do a good job Haha

Pretty sure it's a 21 mm for the lugs, try that if you haven't already.

Dipped my emblems a while ago and finally got around to dipping the rear bumper yesterday.

How many cans did it take you? Did you leave it on the truck or take it off? What about all of the plastics? Did you leave those on?

I dipped my bolt on exhaust tip. It's still on there.

    Good to know guys! Thanks!

What is the best method for masking at peeling so I get a crisp line at the weld? One thick coat and peel the tape when wet, or several light coats and score at the edge with a razor before peeling?

I pretty much used the majority of an entire can. I left it on the truck. Just masked right up to the edge on all the plastic with plain masking tape. There is a slight gap between the plastic pieces and the bumper, so the over spray peeled off easily when I removed the tape without affecting the bumper surface.

Be careful when using a blade. I scoured my clear coat with a line from using the blade too hard
