I think you waited too long to remove the tape. If you let it have time to dry with the tape attached then when you pull it up it is going to pull it all up. When I dipped my stuff I only waited around 60-90seconds between coats and I peeled the tape up immediately after the final coat...

For touch ups - I did the switch panels in my cab and they are knee level so they have rubbed some and pulled derp off in a few spots. I did not want to redo it all so I sprayed derp on a wood block and used a q-tip to reapply to the spots that needed it on my panel. Worked great and was super quick. You could try that on the small spots you have on your badges instead of redoing everything. At least give it a shot before you tape everything off again :notsure:

This is how I would do it. Just spray some on something and use a Q-tip to dab it on where it is needed.

Radom Information: My truck had the back bumper plasti dipped when I purchased it and I decided to remove it. I peeled 90% off and was picking the rest off and when I thought heck why not try some "Turtle Wax Sticker and Decal Remover" it was the shit. It absolutely destroyed the plasti dip and I was able to simply spray it with the water hose. Just a FYI.

You can also use WD-40/any kind of grease and it wipes it right up...

I used 5 cans of paint. 1 per wheel then an extra just in case. I painted Jan 2014 so almost 3 years and holding up strong.

Maybe this will be useful to someone....

    Prep:

Clean wheels with dawn dish soap several times.
    Rinse the wheels several times.
Dry the wheels really well with a clean towel. Let sit in the sun for a few.
I used a gallon of denatured alcohol and let the evaporate.
Carefully put index cards around lip of wheel.

    Paint:

Always make sure paint is warm and shake the crap out of it. I left my paint in the sun during the prep process.
Spray thin layers around where the index cards meet the lip of the wheel to get a seal going.
    Spray thin layers... repeat 100x
Check if more paint is needed spray more thin layers if needed.
Depending on weather carefully pull index cards in an hour or so... before the paint fully dries to make it easier.

Let it dry as long as possible. Chances are the lug nuts going on will mess up a little of the paint but it's covered anyways.

On Saturday, I re-dipped my rear bumper after having it replaced after a rear-end accident. Looks soo much better black instead of chrome!

Wow - I usually don't like black trim like that but that looks like a brand new car. Great Job

Thanks, made a huge difference on that old trim, and it's held up really well over the past couple months. Got an Xterra that I'm going to do the same to soon.

It took about one full can maybe a little more. I can't say for sure because I used up a couple of partial cans I had on the shelf in the garage.

Not sure how many coats it did, but it was a lot. I kept spraying until it had a nice uniform look in direct sunlight.
