I love it. The edges aren't quite as clean as I would have hoped, but I just have to put the time into digging it out. And no one will ever be close enough examining the emblems to notice it. But I know it's there. I think I will continue consuming beer and then tackle the hood scoop in an hour or two.

Looks real good! I just dipped the emblems on my 08 and the black on black looks pretty good. Was more worth imo than buying painted emblems

Not too hard. I've seen people do it both ways. It just seemed easier doing it this way.

Has anybody seen or tried out that new auto-dip stuff? comes in metallic and gloss finishes, looks pretty awesome. I just did my badges and grill with black plasti-dip and it was rad. Im thinking about doing wheels with the metallic black auto-dip

No i just popped out the scoop. Its really easy. Just a couple clips underneath. For the stormtrooper is traced a picture of the helmet onto a large magnet, cut it out with an exacto knife, stuck that on the tailgate, and sprayed away.

Did my emblems black and it turned out great. 6 light coats, 12 minutes between, waited 25 minutes for the last coat then peeled excess.

I did the chrome grill surround today, same concept but with white and 2 coats of glossifier. But it came out with a rugged appearance, not smooth at all.

After doing research I guess I didn't apply it thick enough and/or sprayed too far away.

Can anyone confirm that's the problem? Gonna peel it off and try again another day.

    Hello plasti-world!
Because of this forum I got the confidence to plastidip my 2005 Tacoma, it helped I have some spray painting experience in the past... but here it is black emblem, white outer grille and black lower valence

If it was applied nice and thick you should be able to loosen up a side and peel it off
