    I second this question. Whats better masking with painters tape or do the index card trick? I plan on pasti dipping my wheels this weekend and want to know whats best.

    Plasti-dipped cup holders. Hated the silver plastic shiney looking stuff that was stock. Will see how it holds up.

    This stuff is really easy to apply. Took 3 coats...about 30 minutes apart...and let sit for 4 hours in the furnace room. Directions so easy even an ole fart can do it!

    Just did it today. Will have to see. I didn't scuff it up or use primer so if it starts to go, I'll probably peel it off. If it fails, I'll take pics.....and if it holds up well....I'll post a pic after Thanksgiving.

    im in the middle of doing my wheels right now and i peeled the tape off before it was dry (right after the last coat) and it peeled off nicely.

    right now im just waiting for the front two wheels to dry a little so i can bolt them back on and take the back two off to do them!

    im letting the pasti dip dry on my front wheels now and about to start my back two. my thoughts are the same as yours. I will get pics up tonight or tomorrow.

    from what i hear thought, it only lasts a couple months. im doing it see if i like the wheels black on my truck before i make it permanent.

    Have you ever used plasti-dip? I did my grille and it stood up great to rocks hitting it. I realize the wheels take way more of a beating then a grille but this shit doesn't chip like paint it's fuckin rubber.

    yea, so far im impressed with the way its drying. the only reason i plasti dipped my wheels is to make sure i like them black before i make it permanent by sanding and painting or powder coating them. if it last two-three days oh well, at least i know for sure how i like the wheels.

    i have to say though, just after putting the first two on the truck looks great so it looks like ill be doing it again with paint soon.

    i did an emblem. and i love the way it feels after about 4 coats. and about 24 hours to cure. im gonna try doing this to an xbox 360 controller shell. we'll see how it goes

    I've done my emblems and my hood scoop. The trick is not to mask too close to the area you are using plasti dip on. Go check out my thread on painting using plasti dip on emblems and you will see. I know that sounds crazy but the plasti dip will peel off your body panel pretty easy.

    Definitely, I would love to see some pics... I cant wait to do mine but I'll have to stop working long enough to get it done :(

    My other dilemma is, do I paint the wheels then take them and have my tires put on, or do I have the tires put on, and then paint them?

    I'm afraid they will tear the plasti dip off putting the tires on, on the other hand I dont really have a place to take them off and paint them after the tires are on.
