I’d just put a 2x4 between your rack & the ladder at each end, then secure as usual. Not pretty, but easy to remove & cheap.

I designed a Billet Tie-Down Anchor to fit Prinsu and similar extrusion-style roof racks. These match my current Bed and Rail Tie-Downs.

You can check them out here: https://billettiedowns.com/roof-rack-tie-downs/

Hope this is okay to post in this thread!

Anyone have a preferred 2-person tent for the Prinsu? I Have a DCSB and am considering putting one up top for the family. I already have an ARB awning and 8.5 x 6.5 tent room that I use. it's too tight for 4 people but roomy for two + cots & gear storage. TIA!

Does anyone know if the Billie Bar tracks are the same slot dimensions as the Prinsu tracks? Looking at some of their rack accessories but not clear if the mounting hardware is 100% compatible for the track nuts and size/width.

Incase anyone wanted a little more security, McMasters has tamper resist nuts and bolts in all sizes . The socket is super expensive for what you are getting, but figured swapping my stuff to more “secure”
They have the tamper resist bolts for the rack itself aswell.
Also, Tnutz has their prinsu bars on sale . The shipping little spending but not bad if you order a couple of the bars .

Sorry in advance if this has been asked before but has someone mounted a Rotopax to their Prinsu rack without the mounts from Prinsu? I have some ideas but I’m looking for other inspiration.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I did it that way for a while. Just took a piece of aluminum and used that as a backer opposite the standard Rotopax mount with the 1/4x20 carriage bolts. Be careful you cut them to the right length so they don’t hit the roof. I don’t carry them up there anymore but I had no issues when I did.

Finally got around to installing mine. Appreciate the input from this thread. Had some issues with a few of the roof bolts finding the right threads. Seemed like the angles for it to grab were interesting, but got it to work out. Definitely the best looking rack IMO for these trucks.

I had the same experience on mine. I suspect the threads get overblown with some paint and that causes some threading issues. For sure it was a pain and a little concerning but I am 2 years in with no issues. (knock on wood).

Has anybody mounted a awning to the side of the rack? Just bought a kammok crosswing and wondering if I can mount it straight to the side rail using their vertical mounts. Other option would be to order the prinsu low profile mounts.

I mounted mine to the cross bars. Had to make a spacer for it. It works but I’m wanting the awning a bit higher so I’ll have to figure it out. Not sure how mounting to the side would work but I’d be interested in that option as well.

Problem I have is I need it as low as possible to fit under the RTT.

Depending on how they mount you could invert the bracket from the crossbar. That’s the only way I could see mounting from there. Unless you for from the side like you’re talking…the only concern I’d have with that is if the side plates are strong enough to support the weight

I am commenting on my post from 3-years ago. This Rockymounts Driveshaft bike mount did not last. At almost 3 years and the locking mechanism and latch are pretty much seized up from rust and I needed to start using tools to move the latching mechanism.

I filed a warranty claim today. They denied it saying it was normal wear and tear and "sorry for the inconvenience". I replied "I have 10+ year old Thule bike mounts on 2 other vehicles that work fine and are holding up. You just lost a customer for life". They replied they could give me a 40% discount on a new one. now called the DropTop but looks the same, but that was it.

What a shame of a business to not stand by your products.

What is their normal warranty? If it would be lifetime from manufacturing defects I would think corrosion from normal or expected use would be covered. Just my opinion though

This is why they say it isn’t covered “superficial wear and tear such as color fading, corrosion, etc.”

this isn’t superficial corrosion, the thing is seized up and falling apart.

Yeah I would think surface corrosion that doesn’t affect function would be “superficial”. I think I’d speak with my wallet like you stated also and leave some reviews. That sucks when these things happen and companies choose to go this route.
