    You are only cutting 3/4 inch spaces on the backside of the seal and then you are drilling 3/4 inch holes through the metal band where the bolts mount the rack to the roof.

    Just so you understand the 3/4 inch holes are for the spacers that the mounting bolts go through.

    My personal experience - just cut the weatherstrip to fit. I cut the holes following the directions and still ended up with a subpar result. Ended up cutting the weatherstrip at each mounting location and dousing plenty of silicone to adhere and make a good seal. You can't SEE the holes you will spend so much time cutting and the majority of your drip moulding (weatherstrip) remains in-tact. At first I thought that would be a really crappy way to do it, but after that I can't see why put so much time in punching the holes!

    Don't really have pictures of the actual way it mounted for some reason. That was a while back too and I don't even have awnings anymore.

    What length carriage bolt is included with the eye bolts? I'm going to order a bunch of 1/4" eye bolts and need to know the best length carriage bolt to go with this (i'm guessing 1/2" or 3/4" long).

    Mine appear to be 7/8", leaves about 2 threads exposed up inside the eye bolt when tightened down all the way, so 3/4 is probably fine too
