There was a local meetup a while ago where a guy duct taped a scuba snorkel to the a pillar. Lots of laughs and a few nursing the butthurt.

Toyota should have made it sealed from water, a few guys in here have hydro locked their engines. snorkel would have come in handy.

The problem is true fording depth of a gasoline Tacoma is governed by the location of the ECU modules, not the air intake. The safe fording depth of a Tacoma remains the same with a snorkel, which is below your rocker panels.

Toyota would be insane to suggest an OEM snorkel will allow a greater fording depth.

A guy in my city just bought a new Pro, and I've passed him every day this week on my morning commute. Nice truck, but that snorkel is horrendous. It looks so out of place on a stock truck.

That is the worst part. It takes up too much of the fender.

There is a hell of a lot of room in the rear of the passenger side of the engine bay. Enough for people to fit a 2nd battery. You think they could have done something with that space.

Anyways......I stand by my claim. The Toyota DAI is not a hideous as people make it out to be. We’ll all get used to it in time and then we’re all going to want one......except for Smitty. He’ll still be chooching around in his 4-banger Ranger.

Saw one in person on a white pro. I think it looks pretty goofy but definitely the most well engineered.

To this day though I often think my own truck looks goofy, like some of the proportions are just wonky on the third gen front end.

The 3G front end is an intriguing face. At certain angles, it’s sexy as all hell, and at others it looks like a moose crossed with an alligator.

I still love it though.....flaws and all.
