    Hello Taco members,

First, I can't put into words how excited I am as I have ordered a 2014 white TRD Sport 6-speed double cab. It will be my first brand new truck and well deserved considering the shit I have been through for the last 7 years. I have dreamed of owning this truck for about 2 or 3 years now and began saving over a year ago. My current 98' Dodge Dakota has not had A/C for the past 3 years and this year has not had any heat. It has been a cold winter and since December I have been dressing accordingly while breathing into my gloves to keep warm.

    The problem:

I ordered my 14' Tacoma on November 17th of 2013 in which Toyota told me, "your truck will arrive within 30 to 60 days." Today is February 19th, 2014 and I still do not have my Taco. Here in Illinois we experienced some drastic temperatures (as I'm sure many other states have) of -40 degrees (wind chill). About 52 days into my order, the hose blew on my Dakota while driving in the cold. Next day I went to Toyota to explain my problem then request a rental. This was end of December. They told me no. I had to drive an hour to the airport that same week for work, so this made me have to rent a car for one week at 300 dollars. From this time, my girlfriend allowed me to drive her 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse (absolutely terrible in the snow). After the 60 day mark in January I went back to Toyota, then long story short - they gave me a 14' Rav4 to drive as a rental until the Taco arrives, which to them would be on the ground no later than March 1st.

It has been a rough ride to say the least. Some may wonder, "well why don't you just go pick up any Taco at the dealership?" My typical response is, "they did not have the same model with a manual transmission and the sound options that I wanted, so it is what it is."

I just don't understand why it is taking Toyota 4 months to build a truck that should only take about 24 hours. Is there anyone here who works for the Toyota plant or who has dealt with similar issues? Dealerships do not seem to know anything (or are not willing to be up front and give me their true answer).

Conclusion: Bunch of crap if you ask me, but I still LOVE this tacoma and will wait as long as it takes to get it. The good thing I suppose, is that this time has given me the opportunity to purchase bilstein 5100s, a new tonneau cover, and compact sub. I have had enough of this Rav4, let me tell ya. Thanks for hearing me out and definitely feel free to offer your opinions and/or experience as well.

Dude.... You've gotta grow some balls and start making some phone calls to Corporate or everyone and anyone that will escalate the complaint to a higher level. And I mean....Call and call and call and call some more until they get sick and tired of hearing from you.

What kind of down payments have you made?? Start calling other dealerships in different towns or even different states. Tell them your current situation. Have them 'search' and find your truck to see if its available....etc. If they actually find one somewhere.... (whether its cross country) - Toyota should pay the shipping costs to get it to you.

Plus - depending on your 'down payment' and/or however you've got your purchase setup as - you might be able to tell your current dealership to POUND SAND and you'll buy the truck from another dealership. Hey, you've gotta do what you gotta do. As soon as you start threatening to 'remove a sale' from your current dealership - that might get their attention.
