The rare access cab.

I like the looks of the double cab but would have a hard time accepting the shorter box. That's got me seriously looking at the access cab.

I'm thinking of a new Sport, TRD Pro wheels, 265/70R17 tires, and MAYBE a very slight lift (like maybe an inch or so).

Does anybody have pictures of something close to that???

They are hard to find new here because everyone wants a DC. My 2016 TRD AC sold in under a week at the dealer after I traded it. I was being lazy and should have sold it private party like I usually do. There's a AC only thread on here with tons of pics.

 

FYI, TRD PRO Wheels are 16".

 

this is my TRD Off Road with FN FX Pros and 265/70r17 Falken Wild Peaks. no lift yet.

 

Probably thinking of those nice 4 runner wheels people get for the taco.

 

They do make double cab with the long box. Just saying in case you're not aware.

 

Here is an access cab with 1” in the front.

 

Nice Tacoma. I just priced out a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T's for my PRO. And
Supreme Suspensions 2 in. Front / 2 in. Rear Pro Billet Lift Kit. Just had to wear out the shit quality goodyears.

 

I love my Access Cab but they seem pretty under appreciated here. Mine has 285/75/16s and a 2.5" lift. Take a look at the stock SR/SR5 wheels, too. They come in black and gunmetal.

 

Yup, you got it. It's weird though how the 4-Runner wheels are 7" wide and the Sport wheels are 7-1/2".
Oh well, it must not make that much of a difference because A LOT of guys are running the 4-Runner wheels.

 

Yeah, but I don't think I'd like the longer wheel base.

Our shop truck is a 3/4 ton Chevy with the extended cab and 8' box. It's like driving a freight train down the road! LOL

 

Definitely a fair point. I did a four point turn to get out of a parking space yesterday.

There is a small but ferocious fan base operating from the shadows. Purists.

 

I gotta admit, the profile of the DC is aesthetically pleasing. It must be the symmetry of the silhouette with the hood and box being almost the same size. Where as the AC looks like an old fashion standard truck. Two completely different looks to my eyes.
But that's neither here nor there, I'd have a hard time with the 5' box. Hell, I can get TEN FOOT lumber in my wife's hand-me-down Rav!

 

i had a pretty okay experience with the Goodyears, not the best in mud, but got 44k out of them before i had to get the Falkens. quiet, good ride, and held up well in dirt and mild snow.

 

Access Cab has four doors

 

The only reason I traded my 05 dbl cab sport in was that I wanted a manual transmission with a six foot bed. Toyota only offers one out of over thirty Tacoma models. It is pretty sad that you can't get a base model 4cylinder manual any longer.

 

Sad indeed. I managed to get one, but it still sucks that they retired the legend.
