I too am in the market for a 2020 Taco. Probably a TRD Sport/Access Cab.

The local dealer has about 30 Tacos on the lot. Exactly one Access Cab, which happens to be a Sport. Wrong color though.

I can't figure out why anyone would want a DC Taco. If you need 4 door capacity, that's not what you get with a DC Taco. Perhaps if you have small children (which will soon be large children, trust me on this), or are a family of midgets.

To my eye, the short bed DCs look funny with those stubby little beds.

I know there is a long bed available, but I value maneuverability over a worthless back seat.

I'm the former owner of '97 Taco standard cab SX. Mostly liked the truck, but even for just myself, I found the standard cab too small. Coulda put a shell on it, but I liked it without the shell.

Wife is the former owner of 1st gen extended cab Taco. Pre suicide doors. She liked the truck, but didn't like the hassle of accessing the back of the cab.

So I think the Access Cab with suicide doors is the answer. Probably going to have to order it to get what I want.

love 'em. way better than the stock Wranglers and i prefer them to KO2s. they hold up well for me in the snow, granted i'm not in it often. couple snowboard trips in fresh powder in Mammoth Lakes CA, and then a few off-road solar sites for work in icy conditions up near the CA/ OR border.

    Nice rig allen993.

I noticed your wheel lip moldings are black and you have the black Tacoma emblem on the door.

Nominally, the wheel lip moldings are color keyed.

Does your truck have the black-out package?

The description of the black-out package at Toyota.com says it includes only the emblems and the exhaust tip. Nothing about the wheel moldings.

I’m confident the rare Access Cabs will hold their value better than double cabs. Supply vs Demand.

Hi big, welcome to the forum. He has an Off Road model which comes with the black fender flares, black bumper guard, no fake hood scoop, and other goodies.

99% use case (for me), short box was fine. I can use the long box, but for how often I would use that +1 ft of space, I'll use the crew cab more.

My main use case for a long bed would be camping in the bed. But, for how often the wife would come with me to need the space that sleeping in the cab alone wouldn't provide, I'll take the short box. And it was easy to come by, high runners so I didn't have to wait.

YOUR use case may be completely different. Using it for constantly moving a 4 wheeler that fits in the 6ft bed but doesn't in the 5, for example. So, base it on what you use and need :)

PS - the suicide doors supposedly/apparently by word of mouth, have a tendency to leak as they get older compared to the regular doors. Not sure about the validity to that, haven't researched it. Just something to be aware of. Probably a new door seal for a few bucks would fix it if it does.

Like I said I haven't really looked into it, probably 15, 20 years on? Just something to keep an eye on I guess. Without the B pillar, I get it, I just have zero evidence/support other than bar talk/word of mouth :\

that's fair. and the no B pillar part makes sense. luckily it doesn't rain often here, but i'll keep my eye on it as the years pass.

I had 2 prior 2nd Gen Access Cabs, never had any leaks but one had some door rattles due to the door latches..

Thanks for the info about the wheel lip moldings Captqc.

Sure enough, if you go to toyota.com the TRD Off Road comes with the black wheel lip moldings.

Because I want an AC with manual tranny, they don't do that for the TRD Off Road. TRD Sport it is.

I like the Super White and think it would look great with the black trim. Looks like I'll have to go aftermarket for the black wheel lip moldings.

    I agree.

Most people want double cabs. I get that. But there are more people who want access cabs than there are access cabs available. That’s still a thing. I feel that access cab owners probably hold onto them longer as well.

Looking to get in the AC club this year as well.

Initially I was thinking that the AC might allow for more aggressive negotiation and a lower price, but given the limited supply I'm seeing I think the opposite might be true where they sell for a premium. I"m willing to travel for the right vehicle (voodoo blue, MT, LED lights), but at this point I think even that is going to be challenging. Hoping the inventory picks up as the year wears on.
