ahhh. theres why yours doesnt have a PA out.. yours is the 510.. mine is the 520.

i have a toggle that i cant switch between CB and PA.

your mic connector looks different than mine. its like an angled connector or somethin? im worried now that i may have clearance issues and mine may not fit with the lid closed.

yes i had to sodder a new connection onto the mic so it would have the angle to fit. i dont think it would have fit any other way. i def used some dremmel tool skills yesterday as well

 

You could tie it down. I see a lot of guys do that. The spring I have bends super easy.

im guessing you had to dremmel out holes for the wiring in the back?

i was just planning on unscrewing mine and putting it under/behind the rear seats until needed.

 

I cant be 100% sure but since i wanted the CB all the way back up against that side of the consul, the plastic from the cover still grazes the top of that angle connector so im sure if theres a wire there stickin straight up it may cause issues...

 

Hmmm, alright cool. May have to do some brainstorming on this one. Lol

I really should have taken pics, i was just frustrated and hot yesterday but the bottom of the consul was another obstacle as well. i had to cut the holes bigger on the bottom since the connector for the antenna doesnt extend very far when it has to go through the center consul carpet/plastic and very bottom plastic of the consul. i just cut the holes bigger to fit another angle connector onto the CB, but it required lots of trimming using the dremmel. and lots of trial and error throughout the install

 

Double CRAP. Lol. This is gonna be a lot tougher than I thought. Lol. Oh well. I'm definitely starting Friday night now.

 

believe me, i bought everything on tuesday and took it back to my apt to go over everything....i was completely overwhelmed! haha but it all is worth it in the end to just have it hidden

If I may chime in? I've just finished mine, put it in the same place. Used the same write up. I dremeled the bottom of the console a bit to make the wires run through easier. It helps the CB sit flush with the bottom and that way my mic cord works with the stock CB attachment.

Rough cut, I smoothed it out with the Dremel so the wires don't chafe.

I was nervous cutting into it at first... But once I made the first hole there was a perverse pleasure in destroying plastic that overwhelmed my senses
