    I drilled some holes in the stock skid plate.. Keep a screwdriver in the truck and pop it off real quick when going off road..

    I have the mounting bracket horizontal instead of vertical. The only downside to that was only having one screw hole I could use, but it's on there pretty damn good. It's no taller than the actual light is which is about an inch.

    I have my brackets in line with shape of the light. Meaning the mounting point is actually behind my light. I wouldn't think, even with mounting the brackets above or below the face of the light, that it would be taller than 2.5".
