Yeah…too much money for what it is. It is nice an all, but I don’t think luxury and off-road mix. That $70K gets you a nice diesel F250/350. Or save yourself-$15-20K and get a gasser. Can build one with a locker in low 50s, and be able to stuff 37s on it no problem.

^What's the point of 37s on a F250/350? Mud bogs? The full-size rigs are too large for rock crawling. Even 3rd gen Tacomas are tight.

The LC reliability will be just as good as every other Land Cruiser. It will be one of the best selling LC series in history.

^No. Even in California (where those fancy magazine pictures are taken), a vehicle wider than a Jeep won't be able to access many of the trails. Example (go to 19:00):

Yep, and will sell like hotcakes. Sure do like that better than the 4G Taco, trucks work better for me than SUVs though.

They need a truck version of it. Make an access cab 6’ bed version of this.

It’s all relative, there is point where Jeeps can’t fit or go.

What is the point of tossing 37-40s on a 3/4-1 Ton??? Same reason guys want 33-35s on a Taco….looks mainly. Better off keeping it stock and using it as a tow pig for toys, will last a hell of a lot longer. ;)

This trail is in my backyard so to speak. No matter how much money you toss at a truck/suv…can’t take it here. :)

37s on the silver and 38s on the gray. They look small on a Super Duty. While that tire may seem massive in the Tacoma “World”, look at home on a SD. Diesel will get 18-20 mpg rolling them too. iirc, both have a mild 2.5” leveling kit, so don’t have to do much to fit those size tires. On a Taco is quite a different story.

Adventure Motors who builds a lot of Toyotas did the gray truck. IMG_5370.jpg

    Ha!

Where I live, those Super Duties are daily drivers. We have no problem parking them like some of the Canucks do. :p

Just for clarification, the new Land Cruiser is just the updated Lexus GX, which has been sold as the Land Cruiser Prado overseas for years. It is not in the same league of build quality or engineering as the 300 series Land Cruiser, which is only available as the Lexus LX in the US.

I am mystified why Toyota does not make it available without a hybrid or why they are so dead set on including pig heavy hybrid batteries in so many of their trucks and SUVs.

The GX, thankfully, is available without a hybrid at launch.

Guess a hybrid is standard in the Prado to make room for the upcoming 4Runner at slightly lower price point with power train options like the Taco. That said, don’t really see the point of having so many SUVs that are so close to each other.

It is like their CUV line, was at the dealer the other week, they had a Corolla Cross, RAV4, and a Venza sitting beside each other, all looked to be within hairs of each other size wise, thought was…why in the Hell are there three different versions of basically the same thing???

I don’t even know why the Venza exists if there is a RAV4.

Me neither, same with the Corolla Cross. Have drive both that and the Rav, size wise was negligible.

I don’t know why they need so many different SUVs. It seems silly.

Doesn’t it though? I don’t get it. They have 13 SUVs and Crossovers.
