I’m pretty sure it’s the same I force max Hybrid as the Tacoma. It’s estimated at 22/25mpg which you know you aren’t going to get near once you are loaded down with a family and gear doing 80mph.

The 250 is a 4Runner sized vehicle. The 200 is a much larger vehicle, so is the 300.

Hybrid gains fall off completely when you have to deal with things like aerodynamics and vehicle mass, and this thing is a brick, and a lead one at that.

Well if it's the same weight for example as the 200 series and gets about 10/10 mpg gain over the 200 series that's pretty good. Why add extra liquid weight that's not necessary. Be interesting to see actual tested mpg's after it's on the road.

We should be striving for things to get better over time.

And seems like the 250 series is.

I’m sure people that drive like grandpas will see the mpgs that Toyota posts. The rest of us will be a few mpgs less, just like every other vehicle.

Except for the driving range. :D

    Probably.

But more importantly, if you drive a Prius like a psychopath, and everyone around here does, they will still get pretty impressive fuel economy over a non-hybrid vehicle, which is something that has never been accomplished with a truck.

All the big fat German SUVs with hybrid assist only have it to increase horsepower, because the fuel mileage gain is nonexistent if you drive it like a maniac.

Which is weird, because you could increase turbo boost and put a slightly bigger engine in it, or put in an unnecessarily complex and heavy hybrid drivetrain and get the same result.

The Prius is Toyotas most reliable vehicle so I’m not sure the “unnecessarily complex” hybrid system is a bad thing compared to “just add more boost”

It doesn’t, plus running the exhaust close to the tank isn’t the best feat of engineering either.

Typical Toyota, 2 steps forward and 3 steps backwards.

Probably get a diesel Tahoe for cheaper and have a hell of a lot more range.

    True true.

In this case though, it is aimed at all out power rather than efficiency. Could have done what GM did, and gave it a tune to get similar power and fuel consumption results.

How long before there’s a recall for melted fuel tanks.

    Right!?

Guess that is another reason why they shoved the cat up closer to the exhaust manifold. And they are telling us it is for theft protection.

Dunno, there are some design compromises with both the LC and 4G Taco that I particularly don’t care for, but there always will be compromises.

So the power of V8, the size of the legendary 80 and 100 series, fuel mileage that is practically never seen in a Land Cruiser before and can be had for $60k. What's so bad about all that?

You’re literally adding an electric drivetrain with batteries, regenerative, braking, controllers, and weight instead of using a bigger engine and bigger turbo. Yeah, that’s more complex.

Toyota does this complexity better than anyone out there since the late 90's. I wouldn't hesitate for a second if I could afford it.

I’m the other way around. I’ll just wind up buying the Lexus, too bad it’s still not as good looking as the Toyota.

Nothing. Couple nit picky things, but that is with anything.

There is always the option of building your own vehicle the exact way you want it, it only costs you time and money. ;)
