Got to see an Ineos Grenadier in the wild over the weekend. Gotta say, that thing looks cooler than the new Land Cruiser, purpose built if you will, can strap a bunch of bullshit to the sides, bumpers and top of fenders that you can step/stand on, built in tie down points for the roof rack. Something that is meant to be used, it was super burly underneath too. While the LC looks like a soccer mom vehicle in comparison.

Size of it was nice. Should have got a better shot of it sitting beside my buddy’s F350.

They look cool but are too expensive for what it is.

Yep, not cheap. And really…just another SUV trying to look cool. Rather have the F350 next to it, and can be had a lot cheaper, and a hell of a lot more useful.

Missed this earlier - Land Cruiser Canadian pricing was announced: https://driving.ca/auto-news/news/2024-toyota-land-cruiser-canadian-pricing

    $69,290 1958 Ed.
    $77,290 "vanilla" Land Cruiser
    $83,290 premium pkg.
$90,370 First Edition, limited to 290 units

All prices are excluding fees which add another $2200 or so, before taxes. A First Edition would be around $105k out the door if the dealer doesn't add any "market adjustment".

^Canadian pricing for Ineos Grenadier: https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/ca/the-vehicle/vehicle-configurator

    Base $91,929
    Trialmaster $101,219.00
    Fieldmaster $101,219.00

Really both the Land Cruiser and Grenadier are going after the bougie high end soccer mom crowd currently being served by Land Rover. The Land Cruiser will get wheeled by the 2nd owner. The Grenadier will suffer the same fate as BMWs after the powertrain warranty ends.

We're not used to high inflation. Haven't had inflation like this for over the last 25 years.

I don’t get these high end offroad vehicles. They are just toys for rich posers. Anyone that is serious about off-roading would rather take something like a wrangler, probably used, and modify it to fit their needs. Or buy a side by side.

Prices are nuts, most of those vehicles will never see dirt under the first owner like you said @3JOH22A

Sure does cost a lot to look cool…

It’s funny, I’ve owned FWD vehicles my whole life, never really go off-road. Two track /FS roads, job sites, winter .
    I guess that qualifies

Yeah it is so weird, I still have my dad’s, which is 50+ years old. Was a working man’s vessel to get through the day, now a trend.

The whole car culture thing is odd…the latest models have become caricature status symbol of the real thing.
