Yeh, the 4runner to me is a baby LC with bling. Not a bad thing just my interpretation.

Prado (which the 4R is based on) has been around for awhile, consider it LC lite. Good for 99% of US buyers.

Fairly certain the quote is referring to the 70 series, rather than the Prado.

I think they are more like non identical twins. They are basically the same truck with just a different body on it. I want to see the interior dimensions of each and whichever is bigger will be the wife’s next ride. I’m thinking the LC may be a little wider inside since it doesn’t have wide fender flairs like the 4Runner but who knows? No reviewers seem to know how to use a tape measure.

Our reserved GX came in yesterday, they’re doing some prep work on it. My wife wants to look at it before she commits to buy.

    Cool!

A guy on one of our recent dirt bike rides has an Ineos Grenadier, had the chance to look it over more closely, thing is burly! Love how they did the interior, like it is meant for severe off pavement duty. Feels like you’re sitting in a plane cockpit rather than a SUV. Only thing that was a little cheesy was the BMW gear selector lever. Not crazy about the steering wheel either, cool vehicle nonetheless.

Sorry no pics, didn’t want to be rude towards the guy. So stock photo.

It would be a hard decision, but I think I would choose the LandCruiser. Nice clean styling.

I’ve seen 3-4 around here. I’d be afraid of the nonexistent dealer network.

Don’t think their client base cares, they’ll just heli in parts and a mechanic.

Did like it though, appeared to be designed for use and abuse, while the new LC/GX is probably good for going to the opera… :p ;) (I kid I kid…)

Looks like the salesperson suddenly got very cold feet about selling to us at MSRP seeing that most of these things are leaving dealerships at a huge markup so of course he suddenly didn’t want to deal or even show us the truck… which may not have even been at the dealership at that point.

There were two being loaded onto a car carrier with some guy filming it with his mirrorless camera like it was some type of Michael Bay production, but they assured us that wasn’t the vehicle reserved by my wife.

The sales manager is supposed to call us back to explain whether or not we can buy one at MSRP, as previously agreed, and if they didn’t sell our truck out from under us…

Wait a little while and you’ll get the same vehicle at a discount. I drove by a Toyota dealer this weekend that had a half dozen 4th gen Tacomas out front all with around $5K discounts. The limited sign said “was $54K now $49k”. Right next door was a Nissan dealer that had a Frontier Pro4x for $38K  Vehicles are piling up on the lots and better deals are coming.

She has her old JGC which I just pulled out of the garage and detailed for her, we’re not in a hurry.

Inflate the price first, so the schmucks feel like they are getting a “deal” when they apply discounts. Oldest trick in the book.

I’m sure there were plenty of schmucks that paid the full inflated price when the first trucks arrived. The got to be first crowd.
