Nope! Even with vinyl flooring there is foam padding underneath. Guy I sold it to didn’t care, he turned it into a rock crawler.

They/he are scamming you. DO NOT pay over MSRP for any car: Period. Go elsewhere. If you do "get a call back to explain": identify yourself and tell them to stick-it and hang up the phone. You don't need any mass-produced car that bad. They are starting to pile up on the lots: just like the Tundras'.

I got an email from Yokohama with this Sequoia photo in it. It looks really good. It’s such a shame that the rear storage is so shitty. IMG_4789.jpg

    It is.

Tundra crew cab with a topper makes a better “SUV” than the Sequoia.

When are these new LCs coming to dealers? Have any of you seen one in person yet?

The markup on the GX is is pretty damn bad here in the Bay Area, every dealer thinks that he can get $10-$15,000 over MSRP for one. I’m guessing the LC will be about the same. The Toyota dealers are finished milking every bit of ADM from every Supra they got, and they’re hungry for the next must have truck. Looks like they’re trying to mark up every single new Tacoma halo edition they get until the LC drops.

I’m guessing it will be ADM’d out of existence and most potential buyers will just settle on the 4Runner. Then some dipshit Toyota corporate suit in Texas will kill the Land Cruiser 250 “because of a lack of interest” when most potential customers won’t even be able to sit in one in a dealership let alone drive one.

That is probably true. If idiots would stop paying these markups then they would disappear. I drive by a few Toyota dealerships in my weekly travels and they all have new Tacomas sitting on the lots now. Hopefully we’re changing back to a buyers market again.

I think they’re trying to make it a buyer’s market for at least some regularly purchased vehicles like Camry, Corolla, RAV4, some Tacomas but they still want to do the ADM on the more rare models.

I hate the perceived rarity of some of these models. The manufacturers could make plenty more if they wanted to.

I bought one of the first FJ cruisers sold in the US, it was one of those rare base models that didn’t have the stupid side view mirror lamps or roof rack.

I got a call from the dealership two or three days later saying that they made a mistake and they shouldn’t have sold the truck to me and that I need to bring it back.

This was when suddenly every single FJ cruiser in the southeast was selling for a $5,000-10,000 markup, back in 2007. And mine was the 6MT.

I had already traded in my 2001 4runner for $15,000 and written them a check for $3000 so I owned the majority of the vehicle note.

I ignored their calls, they told me that I’m not allowed to have the vehicle and “they will take action” so I got really pissed off wrote the bank a check, and sent them a photocopy of the title.

That was the fastest I’ve ever paid off a NEW vehicle.

Interesting morning. I drove by two new GXs on a car carrier this morning. They looked pretty nice. Quite similar to the new Defender. Then I saw a Cyber Truck parked at the Tesla dealer. I actually liked it. It’s not as ridiculous as I thought it would be and the size seems nice.

$30K markup on a loaded Land Cruiser trim. Not on the lot yet, but...holy shit.

    HFS.jpg

Some fool will pay it unfortunately. This is the highest I have seen in this area (Northern VA), with a few dealers advertising around $10K over based on my limited research. Surprisingly(?) there are actually a few that appear to be selling at MSRP (for now).

I know there are a lot of dumb people out there but is anyone really that dumb to pay $100K for a 4Runner sized Toyota? That’s next level stupid.

I'd hope not, but that dealership is near 4 of the top 10 richest counties in the US (allegedly). Likely there is some folks with more money than sense around here...

    Edit:

So technically, one of the places (Falls Church, #2 on the list) is an independent city with county-level status in VA. The other actual counties are Loudoun (#1), Fairfax (#5, home of Koons Toyota and also Falls Church), and Arlington (#10).

If someone pays 40% over for a mass-produced vehicle, they deserve what comes next...

Crazy thing is, the dealer in Culpeper, VA is selling a First Edition (same color) for MSRP.
