Even that is too much. They are going to make 100’s of thousands of these things over the next few years or 10. We all know how long Toyota sells a generation of vehicle before redesign. Just wait until they are sitting on the lots begging to get sold.

Agreed, but I’d probably pay MSRP for the first edition if I were in the market for one. My point is, these dealers are in the same general region but their pricing strategy couldn’t be farther apart.

The other trims, no way I’m paying markup or even MSRP. I’ll give it several years, lol.

This video just popped up on my YouTube feed. A couple 2024 Tundras have had engine failures already. Sounds like the same bearing issue from the first trucks that they were blaming on a former employee that didn’t clean the engine blocks. Did they hire him back?
@TacoBuffet are you still thinking about getting one? I figured I would probably get one in a year or so to replace my Tacoma. Not anymore with this shitshow still going on.

What do you buy when the brand known for reliability stops being reliable?

That’s the issue I have and have been giving weight to some of the halo trucks I always wanted like a raptor or Trx. Have also considered late model 2nd gen tundras. Kinda at a stand still.

I can’t deal with the fuel mileage of a 2nd gen Tundra. The 17 mpg I get now is already bad enough. Maybe I’ll just get a Ram and plan on trading it in before it gets to high mileage.

So I drove the Lexus GX 550, my wife had a turn in it as well.

    It’s huge.

    Every display is digital.

The overtrail has a center and rear locker.

    It has all wheel drive.

It has a twin turbo V6 with no hybrid.

In sport mode it is really fast, feels just as fast as a base Cayenne.

It’s a heavy bitch and doesn’t want to change directions easily.

Ours did not have a panoramic roof, I literally don’t care about that.

It has a double vision inducing HUD, which I wish that feature would go away.

    Front seats are super comfortable.

If you get the third row, there is no cargo space.

When you’re in the third year and a couple hundred thousand have been produced what’s the excuse? Engine design flaw?

Huge compared to what? It should be smaller than a Sequoia and a little bigger than a 4Runner. Does it seem wide inside or is the width mostly fenders/flairs. How’s the back seat space? Are you buying one?

Sitting up front it’s essentially the same size as my 200 series.

I don’t care about the Sequoia, and as far as I’m concerned it doesn’t exist.

It’s substantially bigger than the fifth generation 4runner, no idea how big it will be compared to the sixth.

First and second row seat space is excellent. The third row seat is useless. The OT we’re looking at doesn’t come with 3rd row.

My wife is ambivalent about it, and I’m on the fence about the styling. The Land Cruiser 250 would have been a slam dunk if not for ADM and hybrid.

That seems like a pretty good size. Can you get the lower priced model with just two rows of seats?

I think the overtrail is the only one that is available without a third row. Even IF you can spec the other two trims without a third row, my dealer said that every one Toyota is allocating that’s not an OT has a third row.

That sucks. We have no need for a third row and don’t want to lose cargo space. My wife will be getting a new family hauler next year. Would prefer a little more space than our current 4Runner. We will check out the LC when they finally arrive but the back seat looks tight in reviews. There aren’t many great options out there.

My short list was the new Land Cruiser 250, the GX, and the 6th generation 4runner.

The first one is off the table. The GX is very expensive and if the new 4runner starts relatively cheap, we may just go with that.

I’m not sure what the hell Toyota is thinking having three off road SUVs within an overlapping price continuum.
