Our list is the same with the Tahoe thrown in too. If we get another 4Runner it will be one of the last of the 5th Gens and stick with that known reliability. The back seat space on the 6th gen also looks like it may be smaller than the 5th.

That’s cool. Now we know that the new LC can drive on dirt roads.

Saw a new Lexus GS550 in LA yesterday (pretty sure that was the tag on the rear tailgate). Looked just like this. Didn't get a chance to talk to the owner regarding the powerplant.
It was parked at a Funeral I was attending in San Pedro area. Not a good time to talk cars.

Have any of you heard the reasoning behind the LC requiring premium fuel when the Tacoma with the same engine doesn’t.

Looks like it will need 91. No big deal.

It’s almost a buck a gallon more around here. That’s just throwing away money.

If Toyota can tune that engine to run on regular in the Tacoma then why not the LC? Is it to gain 1/2 an mpg or something?

I dunno contact the engineer of the LC. 91 is the octane required. The engineer knows why better than we do.

No need to be so pissy about it. I was just asking if anyone heard the reasoning behind it.

It's because the Land Cruiser is a premium product, and therefore requires premium gas. The Tacoma, being for regular folks, just needs regular gas.

Not getting pissy, you asked a question and it was answered with the known facts and you kept asking the same question. If you need further info search around or contact Toyota why they set the 91 octane requirement.

LC owners don’t want to touch the same gas pump buttons as the peasants. :D
