NGL, this makes the decision to get a 2024 Tacoma Pro harder. Simple clean lines with the design minus the over abundance of Toyota/Trd Pro badging.

That's exactly the WB of a late 80 series. Perfection!

It’s going to have good power but what about reliability? That’s what LandCruisers are best known for. Is that complicated little 4 cylinder going to last 200K, 300K, 400K miles? I doubt it.

Will there be lower trim levels? The last one only came fully loaded.

Love the hate on a powertrain none of us have used yet. Lots of people said the same thing about the 3.5 when it came out. Toyota has yet to prove us wrong so there’s no reason for worry in my eyes. This engine is going to be in a lot of vehicles so I’m sure they did their testing

As far as the platform, I find this all so strange. Same platform for many different vehicles as someone stated earlier. If the 4Runner is still alive, it will be on the same TNGA-F chassis with the same powertrain. What’s the difference? Isn’t that just kind of creating competition within your brand? In a way I don’t see how it works but I can also see it as ‘here’s a reliable platform, pick the vehicle that works for you’ which I think works too. Very interesting.

There's no evidence of a hybrid system adding longevity to a powertrain that would otherwise not be supplemented by hybrid power.

Most owners will probably never experience an issue with a hybrid power train.

Probably would never see a museum full of hybrid vehicles storing batteries long term is a hazard.

I like it...looking like good mpg which translates to good range even with a small tank, base model available at about the price of a well equipped 4 runner. Nothing I've seen this year or last has made me even think about trading my Tacoma, but this one has my attention.

I guess I'll wait and see what they do with the 4 runner. One of the articles said they asked Toyota about the 4 runner and they were tight lipped, but what they did say was the 4 Runner was not going anywhere. I'm curious of they go a more off road/rock crawler direction with the 4 runner.

The base LC looks to have some better off road goodies with the full time 4wd center locking diff/rear locker/MTS in 4L and High w optional sway disconnect.

Yeah, they said it has the exact WB of the 80 series 112

Per automotive press reading from toyota spec sheet
    Ground Clearance 8.7
    Approach 31 degrees
    Max departure 22 degrees
    Breakover 25 degrees

Not sure how that compares to the 200 series

So it sounds like two models. The 1958 which has the round headlights and cloth seats and will be mid $50K. Then the Land Cruiser model which will be the rectangular headlight loaded one. I’m sure that will be big bucks with leather, refrigerator center console, etc.
Why do both models have such shitty tires. Has Toyota ever sold a truck without absolute garbage for tires?

Yes, almost every video on it says it will be built in Japan.

Like I said. It’s Toyota and Toyota has never given us any reason to think it won’t be reliable. They aren’t new to hybrid systems and they aren’t stupid. Until Toyota shows me they made a massive mistake I have no reason to worry.

Now that I like! Techy but looks simple, even the interior feels more refined and simplistic compared to the Tacoma. It is like the the Tacoma was designed for adult children, and the the Land Cruiser for a proper gentleman. Does it come with a pith helmet and a bottle of cognac?

Do like both style headlights, though the round appears they were run through Flex Venture in Japan.
